the feeling many of you, especially those with acid reflux, is your lower esophogial sphincter opening and closing rapidly. it acts as a valve to keep the nasty stomach acids from rising up. this sphincter should remain closed, but sometimes neck inflammation at the 4-6th vertebra can cause mixed electrical signals to be sent which cause it to flutter. if you're experiencing this try icing your neck for 20 minutes. reducing the inflammation with cold should decrease pressure on the nerves sending the signals. I also recommend a visit to chiropractor.

I have this problem too, and I have parasites. I don't know what the fluttering is but it could be connected, try the cayenne test and look for eggs in the stool. They should look like white almonds or grains of rice perhaps. Tapeworms are very common and most people are asymptomatic, you might have a worm wriggling around in there. A discomforting thought, I know. Doctors don't take parasites very seriously or even consider them as a viable option for a lot of symptoms people show, which baffles me because intestinal worms can cause an array of problems. It doesn't matter if you've been out of the country, that idea is ignorant. All it takes is going out to eat at the wrong place where that guy who's infected didn't wash his hands after going to the bathroom and cooked your food. You could also get them if you have pets, if you don't wash your hands frequently/kiss your pets/sleep with them.

The same sensation started for me today. It's painless, but it irritating. The fluttering sensation is exactly at the lower left rib cage, possibly the bottom of the stomach. It comes and goes. I have mild colitis, but that is a very painful condition when my colon flares up. I was diagnosed with IBS a couple years ago due to extreme stress. When my stress levels are down, everything is fine throughout my body. Not sure what the fluttering is, but I want it to stop.

Hey.. I have this too. I have to say after reading everyone's guesses I'm gonna go with parasites. I am not overweight (perfect weight actually) Im in perfect health, I don't have acid reflux or smoke. I've never had surgery or anything that could cause scarring. My blood work is spot on and I exercise regularly. I also follow a high veg vegan diet with zero processed foods. I have cats and I've read they can transfer parasites. I'm going to do enemas and herbs to kill them hopefully that helps :S hope someone can figure it out because it's annoying.

I've read that it could be due to peri-menopause.  I have it frequently and I've had a hiatal surgery 14 years ago.  I'm going to see if exercising more helps.  I've also cut down on my carb intake to lose weight.

Have you tried raising your magnesium levels. Magnesium is not well absorbed orally and for many people loosens stools a little if taken as a liquid which is better absorbed than tablets. It is best absorbed through skin by soaking feet or bathing in magnesium salts ( supermarket product). Can use a cream or spray but it itches for a bit. magnesium relaxes muscles and builds strong bones. Very underated and is one of the lighter chemicals in the body which we lose when we ingest toxins ( e.g air fresheners ....so called).

It may be time for a parasite cleanse.it feels like a fish flopping right under your rib cage.as disgusting as it sounds, you may have a tapeworm.you may notice that it reacts to sugar and carbohydrates. That's what they feed on. Try Paragone or Humaworm and eliminate sugar...even fructose during this time.you will be amazed at what comes out of your body.i got out 3 six inch tapeoworm.i was wondering why I was hungry all the time and always craving carbohydrates and waking up at three am with this fluttering....people in the U.S. don't want to believe they have parasites. They associate them with 3 rd world countries but guess what...you can get then even in the water supply in major U.S. Metropolitan areas (I found giardia in last years water report in San Francisco yet my doctor kept asking me if I had left the U.S.) so suck it up we all have parasites but when you have too many, they wreak havock on your digestive system and cause many symptoms most of which mask themselves as the need to eat sugar and carbs....make sure you do enemas during the parasite cleanse to flush them out completely. You will kiss my ring when you realize that this is the one thing that was making you gain weight as well as have so many other symptoms. It will be the most rewarding 30 days of your life so suck it up and do it.
