I believe that you are right about the digestive system.  I had H-pylori, a pocket in my intestines and a pulp.  Ever since I get the same thing.  I had an upper and lower checked out.  This was the only way to find out what was making me sick.  The H-pylori gave me symptoms (one minute I am fine and the next minute) I would get very light headed almost to the point of fainting, the runs and blood was in my stool, and throwing up all at the same time.  It would not be constant.  It would come and go and when it came, it gave you no clue it was coming.  Maybe weeks, days before having another episode.  I was always worried that if no one was home with me and I had an episode I could faint and choke from throwing up.  They gave me strong antibiotics and stomach medication and I have been fine now for 2 years, but I get that irritating flutter feeling at least once a day if not more.  Good Luck everyone.

I have the same sensation. It feels like it's toward the or at the bottom of the heart. I also have A-fib and was wondering if it has anything to do with that or the medication that I'm on.

Wow this is insane! How is it that so many of us can all be having the same symptoms and yet no one knows anything about it and we cant get any answers?  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

Hi, i used to have exactly the same sensation around my heart area. I thought i might have a problem with my heart or something i had ECGs and other tests but there was nothing wrong with me. So i came to the conclusion that it must be due to anxiety. So i looked further into anxiety and found that what might be causing this sensation all the time was the fear of it coming, e.g "the fear of fear." Once i completely accepted that it was just anxiety and it was my head that was bringing on this sensation it completely went away there and then for atleast 6 months. However, it has come back over the last few days but i have found that because i know that its just down to a bit of under-lying anxiety i can control it and hopefully it will go away soon. Hope this has helped someone because i know its right nuisance! x

Well, the only information worth taking from the hundreds of inputs on this topic is to not go to the doctor at all!

All the money I'll be saving by not doing so makes me feel better already.

I found this page and I have an idea. I also have the strange sensation. How many of us posters here deal with some sort of anxiety or depression? Just a shot in the dark but by any chance have any of you ever had to google 'Annoying Eye Twitch' or 'Twitch above ear on head'. Relax. :) We're all just crazy.

I have those same symptoms. It feels like it makes me want to throw up sometimes it just flutters from my chest to the base of my throat. It sometimes is off and on for hours other times don't feel it at all. I went to the doc 400 dollars later and 5 min of his time he said I was fine. So what does that mean???? Doc visit was waist of time and MONEY :(. But I am concerned. It was so bad the other day it was scaring me. If you get any info. Please share. Thanks Raina

I am a 44 year old male and have had this fluttering in my chest for a very long time. four months ago it became more agressive throughout the day so i saw my doctor and he sen me for some tests EKG, ECHOCARDIAGRAM, and a 24 hour moniter. everything came back ok. last friday my wife and i were walking in sams shopping and I had this fluttering in my chest and became very dizzy almost blacking out and felt like someone was squeezing my entire body. I became very weak and started sweating heavily.i spent 2 days in the hospital having a cat scan of my brain, chest xrays, all kinds of bloodwork, arteries in my neck scanned, thiroid checked and a nuclear stress test and nothing was found. this is driving me crazy I need to know what is causing this and get it fixed. my colesteral and trigliserides were a little high and i have high blood pressure but my entire stay in the hospital it was nearly perfect.I am currently wearing a 30 day moniter in hopes of finding what this is .

You should be checked for sleep apnea, which can cause your blood pressure to rise during the night because of lack of oxygen. Untreated sleep apnea can affect your heart. Anytime you wake up with pressure in the chest, heart palpitations and sweating, you should suspect a heart attack and act accordingly. Sometimes this can be accompanied by nausea as well.
