This probably doesn't sound like a legitimate medical problem, but i was on the phone and eating my breakfast (egg whites on an english muffin), and of course i had some food go down the wrong pipe. I thought i was able to clear it, but it feels like there's still something there and i can't get it out. I feel some pressure on my chest like i'm not getting all the air i should be getting. I can eat and drink fine, i tried coughing it up, but to no avail. Will this go away eventually? Anybody have any advice as to how to clear the airway? Thanks!

If you feel that the food is still stuck in your throat then you should get it checked out - now.

Depending upon how intact it is is could dislodge and block your airway completely or as you feel is is doing, partially.

If it does go down the trachea then it could get lodged in the bronchi. This can lead to infection or pneumonia.

Get it checked out, the pressure is a sign that something is not right.

Hi:
You don't want something stuck in your airway. Even though it could be that your airway was irritated by the event, which might cause you to feel as though there is something in there. HOWEVER, a blockage in your airway could be fatal if it moves down into your lungs. You should see a doctor so that he/she can look at your airways via ultrasound, xray, etc. That's probably the best advice. This could turn into a life-threatening nightmare. Please see someone right away. Best wishes. Please let us know how you are doing.

Whoa..

You need to go to your doctor ASAP..

Or it possibly can be a pain / scratch mark from the food that feels weird. I mean, your brain can have a pain in your esophagus, and it could feel as it is somewhere else!! It happened to me once :-D
The pressure could be from you.. Telling your brain something is in there.
Anyhow, it can still be critical.

Hi:
My advice would be to get this checked out. You wouldn't would to further aspirate this into your lungs. That could be life threatening. Have a doctor evaluate the situation, especially if you are experiencing pain you your chest. It is a legitimate problem. I hope that you have sought out help by now. Please let us know how you are doing. Again, don't ignore this.
