Okay, So I am 18 years old and I first got on the Depo shot in November, 2011. My last shot that I received was May, 2012.. So its been 6 months since my last shot. I've had only one period since I've been off the shot, but thats it. I've had unprotected sex for about a month now, quite frequently. Yes, its very irresponsible, I understand that. But anyways, I should have gotten my period about 3 weeks ago, give or take a few days. But still, nothing. I have been experiencing "signs" of pregnancy, but I don't know if its still from the Depo being into my system, me psyching myself out, or I'm genuinely having legit signs. I've had frequent random headaches, dizziness, sometimes nausea, BEYOND BLOATING, eating all the time, Killer abdomenal pains, Super tired, and random stretch marks on my boobs when I am positive Im done developing in that area. I need some advice. Please, I dont have anyone to talk to about this or discuss this with. What should I do? Should I wait for a pregnancy test? I've read all sorts of things about "Its taken me 3 years to get pregnant after the shot" and "I got pregnant right after my last shot" so I am morbidly confused! Please help. firstly, you could be experiencing a 'phantom pregnancy'.
A phantom pregnancy is when your body shows signs of pregnancy because of a late / skipped pregnancy. It's actually a very common thing. But I would speak to your doctor about the symptoms and ask if it's because of the shot. If you're not comfortable doing that, you can wait just until your next expected period and take a pregnancy test, you can get specific one's for 'early detection' although the best way to go is by taking a pregnancy test at the doctors, (they give you a cup to fill with a urine sample, then they dip the end of the little pregnancy test in the urine and you'll know if you are or aren't) either way, it's worth looking into - i hope everything turns out well.
