Hi- I posted earlier, but did not get any replies, so posting again. I have been dealing with Asthma Symptoms caused by GERD with no relief in sight. I am currently on Zegerid and a digestive Enzyme and try to follow the SCD Diet. All of this helps, but breathing still not good. I go to see my Gasterenterologist February 1st and want to know what my options are. From what I have read I can take drugs that help empty stomach and increase Spincter Pressure, but they come with alot of side effects. Anyone have any personal experience with these type of drugs? Also read up on Surgery and that can have side effects also and read surgery can come undone? Anyone had this surgery? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

I read your post as I was searching the internet for solutions to my asthma/GERD condition. I too was diagnosed with this condition about a year ago after about a 6 week illness and several weeks off of work. I went to a pulmonary specialist and she made the connection right away. I had good control on a PPI and Advair. Then my inurance company did not like PPI and I switched to a cheaper drug...that was about 3 weeks ago and I have had an out of control asthma episode for almost 2 week. I am currently taking prednisone, advair, singular, albuterol, and the stronger PPI with no relief. I feel terrible and do not like taking some many pharmaceuticals. I am currently setting something up with an accupuncturist as I have had luck with other condtions in the past. I am at my wits end with it as it seems nothing helps me breathe or feel better. I am interested in the diet you mentioned and will check it out. I am also dabbling in macrobiotics but not sure if it is the right fit for me.

I have been having problems with my nebulizer medication not working. Some of it works and then some of it doesn't. It's almost like when they fill it that something doesn't work correctly. Like sometimes the machine the phar company uses doesn't put the right amount in or the wrong thing in. It seems to me not to be regulated to the correct amount EVERYTIME. HAs antyone else had this problem?

I have all similar problems related to GERD. I am currently in Nexium 40mg twice a day with no much relief. The feeling is very annoying and sometimes it feels like there is no end to it. My symtoms include chest pressure, feeling of fullness, continuous burping, burning pain under my breat bone, sometimes excesive swallowing, sinus drip and other fun symtoms. The good side is that there seems to be some hope for all GERD sufferers. The fundoplication surgery has been shown to be really effective but it comes with some undesirable side effects and is irreversible. Anyway, in search for relief I found an alternative to the fundoplication surgery called the Esophyx procedure. This procedure is brand new and it started in Europe with extraordinary results. The procedure makes the LES stronger and at the samer time reduces the size of a Hiatal hernia and best of all is repeatable and reversible. Check it out.. I will definitely try my luck . It has been recently approved by the FDA in the United States. I hope this brings relief to all of you. Good luck!

I'm reading your posts and feel like I'm right there with you--I've struggled with asthma for years, but it was getting worse. Also getting worse was how I'd jump up in the middle of the night with a stabbing pain in my chest. My voice was hoarse (I thought it was from using my inhaler too frequently). I was surprised at the GERD diagnosis, but it certainly explained years of feeling full, bloated, and burping all the time. I'm on Aciphex twice/day, but don't really notice a difference. I already tried the omizapole. I changed my diet, reduced coffee to one cup/day, elevated my bed, ate dinner early, etc., but still feel yuchy. There seems to be a constant knot in my chest. Help!
