My father had a tumor the size of a walnut removed from the right side of his brain on Tuesday. He can feel his left side but isn't using it purposly. I know he will have to relearn how to use it to ever return home. His doctor said he's expected to last 6-9 months with treatment. He can speak but not really complete sentences. He answers questions, mostly yes, no. He doesn't say when he needs to use the restroom until you remind him and ask him 'I have to pee' 'I have to poo', that sort. He recignizes people, both visually and over the phone. He's not eating much but we try. He is constantly kicking his left leg, we put on socks that he just said he wanted (we ask if his feet are cold he says yes) and he instantly starts kicking off the sock and any sheet or blanket on him. He is 78 years old. I'm trying to find out information on when he might communicate better. When he might bring up conversations without being prompted? I live five hours away. The updates I'm getting aren't really concise so when I visited him I was a little surprised. If anyone has any comments on recovery and communication I would love to hear what you have to say. Thank you!
