I have been taking YAZ for 3 years and noticed significant hair loss that started out about a quarter size and now it is about the size of a deck of cards. I stopped taking YAZ but I am still losing my hair. What can I do?

Hi Irene, I have heard about how some women who are on YAZ will lose their hair but from what research I did on the problem, there is not really a way to reverse it once it is done. The best that you can do at this point is just try to prevent future loss by doing what you're doing essentially by avoiding YAZ. I'm sorry to tell you that but that's the best I know. Does anyone else have any pointers for Irene?

My 21 year old daughter has been on YAZ for about a year now and she is having significant hair loss. Nothing was ever said to her about it being a side effect of YAZ. She has become quick tempered and angry over small things. Server stomach pain also. Her doctor said it's not the YAZ. They wanted to put her on an anti depressant even though this started around the same time YAZ did. She is upset about her hair but has no idea that it could be YAZ. I think that all doctors should address this issue with their clients before prescribing it. I feel very sorry for her and I know this is going to upset her even more.

I am 21 also, took yaz for a little over a year & noticed my hair thinning. So i stopped taking it & about 2 months later tons of my hair started falling out, so much that i actually started seeing my scalp all over my head when i had my hair in a ponytail. My doctor couldn't figure out why but i know it was the yaz because that is the only thing that had changed. I wasn't told hair loss was a side effect either. My doctor told me if it is yaz causing it, then my hair should eventually fix itself she just doesnt know how long that will take.
