Well according to my last visit to the general surgery department, the doctor said for me to just forget about the liver hemangeoma that It should not cause pain. I had a second hida scan and it came out 97% functioning so I guess my gallbladder is fine. The dr. thinks its muscular and gave me a referral to pain management. The weird about my pain is that I also get twitches or like a pulsating feeling in all muscle areas. Its not bad but it happens daily when Im at rest. Sometimes the pain will double on me. I had so many tests that doesnt show anything except a 3.5 cm hemangeoma and some sludge in the neck of the gallbladder plus 6 cm polyp. I am a physically fit person and sometimes the pain is so bad that nothing helps. I guess maybe a steroid shot might help if its abdominal wall pain we will see. The pain stems from upper right side to the left side plus both flanks. If anyone has any feedback I would greatly appreciate it.

Can't you be referred to a liver specialist rather than the general surgery department? (Luckily, 3.5 cm is not very large, and I think you indicated in a previous post that it has not grown) What is a "hida" scan?

I am so sorry to read that all of you are having these symptoms, but so relieved to know that it is not just me! I had my gallbladder out about 8 months ago. I felt pretty good after that. About a month or so ago I noticed I still had symptoms. Tightness along my bra line and in my right shoulder blade, and shortness of breath. A CT scan revealed the same diagnosis. I too was told it was probably nothing. Thank you for sharing. I will continue to pursue.

I too have had several months of odd symptoms, weight loss, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, general body aches as well as liver pain. When the doctor did a ultra sound and found a 6+cm tumor. He refered me to a Liver specialist who did a CT scan. The liver doctor says it is a hemangioma and that my symptoms are unrelated. He keeps insisting that hemangiomas have no symptoms and that my symptoms must be something else! He also told me that liver pain was impossible.. As a woman who had HCV, I know this to be false. Livers can hurt like hell..

After reading all these posts, I think my next question to my doctor needs to be, "where in my liver is this" and "is it pressing on anything?"

I hate being dismissed by doctors!! It's all in your head little lady...

OMG!!! I'm so overwhelmed right now. I've been suffering for years with upper right quadrant pain and recently gas, bloating, and a feeling of heaviness under my bra line. I was diagnosis with acid reflux about 3 years ago, and had a endoscope twice as recent as 3 months ago and the only finding was a little gastritis in my stomach it was fine.

For about a year now I've had severe gas, bloating, and a slight pain, or should I say discomfort. I had a CT scan back in Oct 2011, in which I was told I have a hemangioma on my liver, and it was brushed off like it wasn't anything serious and nothing to worry about.

I'd convince myself for the last year that I had gallbladder issues that just hadn't shown up on the various test, even though the test revealed my gallbladder was fine.

Now that I've read the post here, I'm going to look into this more closer, it explains all the changes and symptoms I've been silently suffering with for some time now. I must say I've laid awake many nights worried because I knew something was wrong. I've been to the emergency room to many times to count in the last year. And they would just treat me for acid reflux or give me an EKG and send me home.

I can't understand why I wasn't told more about the hemangioma. Everything I've read previously said there's no symptoms with a hemangioma and that's what my doctor told me. Thank you for setting me on the right path, perhaps now I can go to my doctor and finally get some relief and clarity.

I, too, was told years ago, after having certain tests, that I had a Hemangioma in my liver. Since they are not cancerous, I do remember my doctor telling me never to let a surgeon do surgery on it. To just leave it alone. Lately tho, I have had such pain in the upper abdomen , back, , along the bra line, so badly that now, I wear an undershirt and do not wear a bra. I also have hypothyroidism, and high blood pressure, so, my conclusion that as I got older, other things are happening and after reading your input, there are others out there with the same problem.

I was just told today, that I also have a hemangioma on my liver, and have had similar symptoms. My doctor told me, rest assured, they are not dangerous. It is essentially a cluster of blood vessels, so close together, they are similar to a cyst. So, it seems, our symptoms we must grin and bear :) Take care! I hope this eases your mind.

I did go to liver specialist. He acted like it was no big deal and referred me back to general surgery. So basically they brushed me off. I don't think they would ever tell you that they cause pain because they don't want to address the issue. He did a CT on the liver and didn't think there was a problem. I am still living in chronic pain all on the upper abdomen and both flanks.

Hi, yes I too was just diagnosed with a 1cm hemangioma. My symptoms have been diarrhea on and off, frequent bowel movements and bloating along with nausea after eating. Some days are worse than others and I can't tell if what I eat or drink has anything to do with that.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a liver hemangioma on my left lobe of my liver. I had surgery Oct. 9. 2012. My hemangioma was 24 cm big. It weighed 25lbs. I am still recoverying from my surgery and feel so much better since the surgery. I hurt like c**p for 2 to 3 weeks but its better know. I have lost over 50 lbs. since april or may. I have some of the symptoms but not as bad as what some people have had. I have even worked a full time job, and when I look back I don't know how I made it. I was so big I looked pregnant. I would have never known that I had that if I hadnt felt it move when I was laying on my side and when I went to move that is when I noticed it. My stomach was always hard as a rock. I still have a small 5cm by 6cm hemangioma on my right lobe of my liver. Good luck to everyone

Hello,

I recently had surgery to remove two hemangiomas from my liver.  Directly after the birth of my second son, I began vomiting appx. 20 times a day.  I also have a history of migraines and was being treated for that mistakenly for months before it was discovered that I had these. One of them was positioned very inconveniently and pressing on my duodenum, pancreas, and galbladder and because of the blockage, my food was unable to pass through.  I am still recovering, but haven't heaved for almost six weeks now.  The surgery saved my life and I am thankful to God for leading me to an understanding doctor who was willing to believe in doing this surgery to provide my relief.  I went through many unbelieving doctors before him, so please don't give up if you feel discouraged!
