Yes! Go to the ER right away. I waited too long and almost had to have a blood transfusion.

I know no one has been on this forum for months but I wanted to share my story.
I had a baby 12 weeks ago. It was a by the book vaginal birth with a bit of extra bleeding after. My doctor wasn't concerned. I was cramping in the hospital afterwards but they told me it was normal for a nursing mother. A week later I lost a half a liter of blood in my living room. I had been having terrible cramps but my doctors office said that cramping was normal after birth. I was passing clots, but smaller than a golf ball so they weren't concerned. When I bled out, the clots were biscuit size. I ended up having a D&C and they removed the rest of the placenta. During the D&C they found high grade cells on my cervix. We did a colonoscopy 6 weeks later, giving my body time to heal from birth and the D&C. They came back low grade. We decided to do the Leep anyway. I passed a blood clot that same day and bled all day, but was told that was normal. I continued to bleed lightly for days. Then it stopped. My surgery was on Dec. 23rd. On 1/5 I passed two more clots, and the blood was bright red. I called my doctor's office and they said it was normal, but if I started bleeding heavy to call. On 1/6 I started passing clots every 3 minutes or so around 7:30 pm for an hour. We called the exchange but they never called back so we went to the ER. The ER didn't have any rooms available so we waited hours while I kept bleeding. Finally around 2 am the doctor saw me, couldn't figure out the source of the bleeding so they called the on call doctors since my OB was out of town. They ended up doing surgery in the middle of the night because at that point I was passing biscuit size clots again. They packed my cervix and restitched it. I saw my doctor 2 days later, he said that I'm healing fine, but that he was referring me to a hematologist because he thinks that I have a bleeding disorder. I don't know if I believe that because I've never had issues with bleeding. I like my OB, but so much has gone wrong and I don't know who to believe anymore.

I just had a leep on Friday, by Tuesday I was hemmoraging at work and was rushed to the hospital. The found a leaky artery and cauterized it and sent me home after an hour. 2 hours later at home while only laying on the couch, I began hemmoraging again, so severally that my body was going into shock. I passed out 5/6 times and vomitted as many times while awaiting the paramedics. Upon arrival to the hospital my blood pressure had dropped to 65 over 48 and I had passed several cantaloupe size clots. They rushed to stitch a brisk leaking artery. I lost more than a 1/3 of my entire blood. They suggested a transfusion which I declined due to concerns of risk. I am home now and it could take up to a month for my body to rebuild the blood I lost. I can't work, I can't really leave the couch. I was the rare 5%. There were no directions after the leep other than no intercourse, tampons, bath, etc. Im not sure at this point if there was fault in my procedure which I had in the OR.

I had a LEEP 7 weeks ago (Aug 22). I was completely under with general anesthesia, which was great. I went in at 6 am, got into surgery around 7, woke up around 8, and was out of the hospital about 10. They kept me a bit while I woke up and they also wanted me to drink fluids and urinate before I left. No bleeding at all after surgery, just a tiny bit of the discharge from the monsels right afterwards. Hardly any cramps, although for the first day or two I took 600 mgs of ibuprofen every 6 hours while awake, so that might've helped.
A week afterwards (Aug 29) I bled pretty moderately for about 2-3 hours and then it stopped. I wasn't supposed to have my period for two weeks (Shouldve been about Sept. 12). After that, every other day I would bleed quite heavily, maybe a pad an hour or a pad every two hours. Sometimes it'd be for a few hours, sometimes the whole day. On Sept 7 I went for my 2 week check up and they said everything was healing up okay, but it was maybe my period coming early, and put some monsels on it just in case.
Later that night, about 8 hours later, I noticed the opening of my vagina seemed almost sealed shut. I think this was either from the monsels or from maybe swelling from the speculum. But soon after I started bleeding again (and vagina was opened like normal again) and got freaked out. The bleeding continued like it had been for the next couple days. THEN Sept 9 I had, over the course of 3 or 4 hours, 3 BIG clots come out. They were about the size of if I cracked an egg into my hand. Maybe a bit bigger. Besides that, it was about the same amount of blood/pad usage. But when I went to the bathroom like once an hour or so for those 3 ish hours, a clot like that would come out. The bleeding continued all day but the clots stopped. I called the doctor and the doctor told me the clots were OK as long as the actual bleeding wasn't soaking up more than a pad an hour. The next day no bleeding, no clots. The following day, same thing, clots for a few hours, bleeding all day. The following day, nothing. The following day, Sept 13, I had the worst bleeding I had had to that point, with the same large clots and also about 3 in number. Sept 14th, nothing. It's been a month since then and I have not had any more bleeding or clots since.
I think the large clots and bleeding towards the end of this was my period, as this was the time I wouldve regularly had my period. Normally I get a couple small clots, but nothing like that. I wonder if maybe it was because my cervix was weak and it all kind of was coming out in spurts at once, instead of a more steady flow. I believe the bleeding before the clots/lots of blood was probably the normal bleeding they say to expect.
I had my 6 week check up last week (Oct. 5) and the doctor said everything looked completely healed. I am now allowed to return to tampons, sex, etc. like normal.
I will also add that today is Oct. 11 and I started my period Oct 9, right around when I normally would. Normally my period starts very very slowly for a few days, then I have a heavy flow day, and then it is basically over. This time, I had a pretty moderate flow day the first day I got it, and today on day 3 it's barely there. I have yet to see whether it will start up more again, or whether it is a shorter period with a much lighter flow now. Hope my experience helps anyone in a similar situation. It seems everything is back to normal for me :-)

I had extreme heavy bleeding two weeks after my leep procedure and went to the ER, and they told me it was just my period and to go home. I went back and forth to the bathroom through the night so i wouldn't bleed on my bed, which i still did, and then i went to my obgyn and she said it had nothing to do with the procedure and it is just a super heavy period and she put me on birth control. I believe that the kewl procedure had something to do with this and I'm wondering if any women had a second period that wasn't as bad after the leep because i don't want to have hormones in me. thank you

having my second period after LEEP. like i said in my previous post, i had really bad period/bleeding from 1 week to about 2 1/2 weeks after my LEEP. Now I have my second period, and it is nothing like that period. Actually lighter than usual. Will have to see if it is still lighter than usual, or returns to normal next time!

It's June 3, 2017. I had a colposcopy in December 2016, a pap in April, then a LEEP April 25. Supposed to be a simple procedure. As an RN I looked up the procedure and post-op education along with some of the complications so I knew that bleeding was expected. I never stopped bleeding, but it was tolerable so i just went with it. On May 4th, I went into the ER because I was saturating an overnight pad every 30 minutes with large clots. I went to the ER, and luckily, they recognized me as an ER nurse who used to work there, so I got right in. By that time though, I had soaked through my sweats and blood was running down my legs. They kept looking at my blood count and saying it was normal, which was frustrating because I knew it would be. I had just started hemorraghing that day and knew my blood count wouldn't reflect it yet. But because the count was normal they didn't really hurry and really just attempted to get consults. At one point we had to just say, quit looking at the numbers and LOOK INSIDE. The doctor finally did a vaginal exam, and yes, that room looked like a slasher film with all the blood and clots (hand size at that point). They did silver nitrate, they did moncel, then the laborist came in and did moncel and held pressure. Talk about pain. At about that point my bf said I passed out for a few seconds. The last time that many people were in my vagina I was giving birth. A laborist finally rushed me into surgery and put in stitches. YAY! Nope. Less than 10 days later I was bleeding again, but not as bad. My OB/GYN says get to the ER and I will do surgery. May 22, I had a third procedure to stop the bleeding. after that the bleeding was fairly light, mostly pink tinged when wiping. I would even go half a day with nothing then another pink tinge. Today, June 3rd, it was almost non-existent and I was excited. Then, for zero reason, and I mean I have been a bump on a log all day, I stood up and felt that rush of a period like sensation (I;ve had a hysterectomy already, so no period for me). I ranto the bathroom and had heavy bleeding with bright red blood and small clots. I'm playing the wait and see, not sure how much more blood my body can lose considering I've been bleeding over 35 days now, even though a few of those were very light. I just don;t want another procedure. And I agree, this is not just a physical issue, but a psychological issue. My 9 yr old daughter just asked me if I was dying. I said no out loud to her, but inmy head said, "geeze, I hope I'm not." I'm almost more worried about my mental state now more than my physical state. I've had to tell my boyfriend that this is causing mild depression and anxiety. It was supposed to be a simple procedure!! I just want my life and body back.

I had a leep three weeks ago. I felt great at this point. No spotting nothing. I was walking from my car to my house and felt a gush like I had peed my pants. Blood had soaked through my jeans and was pouring out of me. I say on the toilet and called the doctor. I was passing clots the size of my hand and it wouldn't stop. The amount of blood was terrifying. Weirdest part is I felt nothing.. I went to the er and they sucked out all the clots and then cauterized it. The blood didn't stop it was pouring out of me. They got an ob doctor and she said it was a burst blood vessel on my cervix. She stitched it twice. I'm on day two and I feel super week and extreme pelvic pain. I'm so scared. It happen don't with no warning I get paranoid just standing up. Doctor said I didn't cause this. Sheer bad luck. I go in on days to get the stitches checked out.
