I just cut myself with a kitchen knife while chopping up some onions. To my horror, the cut is quite deep and painful and just keeps on bleeding. Can you help me with any advice about herbs for cuts? What can I do to make the bleeding stop? And should I do anything to prevent infection from occurring?

Shepherd's Purse is a herb that I like to have on hand to stem any bleeding. It has been using for centuries and works very well. As far as infection is concerned, cleaning the cut out with water and then putting some tea tree oil directly onto it is your best bet. Good luck.
