Hi. My best friend was diagnosed with muscle loss. He was always at good health, moving around… I would like to know how does muscle loss occur? What could be the cause of his problem?

Hi. My Grandpa has the same problem, because of his age (82) and he can`t move around like he used to. The most common causes of muscle loss are atrophy that occurs with aging, stroke, spinal cord and peripheral nerve injury, osteoarthritis, diabetes, burns, muscular dystrophy, myotonia congenita, myotonic dystrophy, myopathy, poliomyelitis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. There are some nutritional supplements that may combat muscle loss. Some studies have shown amino acid supplements are able to maintain body mass.
