Well, accutane has vitamin A which helps clear out toxins, it is completely normal for you to break out, it usually takes about 2-3 months before you see REALLY good results.

I'm finishing up my first month of accutane (absorica brand 30 mg per day) and so far so good! My skin is beginning to dry out, and I haven't had any crazy breakouts like some others have experienced. Already this soon in my treatment, my hair stays non-greasy for like three days. It's awesome. I'm new to the drug, but I highly recommend it based on my experience so far

3rd week~? i'm on the end of the 4rth week and i haven't seen improvement yet~ i think it's too early to expect improvement~
& i don't think the brand matters that much but that's only my personal opinion~
it's normal if your breaking out a lot, i had my initial break out just about a week after being on isotretinoin~
the average time to expect results is about 3 months~ so have some patience~ (:

I started accutane the beginning of December 2013. I am now in my third month and I'm getting very discouraged. I feel like it will never clear up. The cystic acne is nowhere near as bad, but the checks and chin are. Their just sores. I just really need some encouragement. I started with 40mg a day, until the second month. Now I am on 80mg. I'm also a female. Anyone with some encouraging words?

ok so you had severe acne and scarring on your shoulders and neck, yet you "never" had felt depression before. so what prompts you to go on this drug. one of the side effects is clearly depression, thats why they make it somewhat difficult to get. Anyhow your just dehydrated and everyone is gonna have some joint and back pain at somepoint especially when your most likely sitting and playing video game for extended periods. The truth is your right, you just dnt know. But lets not go down the pretentious road of saying weve "never.. experienced depression" were all human buddy

I have been suffering with problamatic skin sice I was 14 years old. I am now 30!!! I decided enough was enough and the dermo put me on oratane. My back, chest and neck were the worst. large sore lumps surrounded by a million whites heads that were so itchy and irriated. My lips and eyes satrted drying out by day 4. around day 8-10 I had a huge break out. But it is now day 14 and it has almost completely cleared and my skin looks and feels smooth and shiney. The big lumps on my neck are a little more stubborn but all the white heads have basically gone. I am on low dose of one tablet and I feel I am not having any other side effects. Perhaps a little more tired and yes the dry skin but nothing a good mosituriser can't fix. My liver was a little off but the dr still put me on the meds as my dose is low and he felt i will only need 12-16 weeks.

I am feeling so happy!!! I can't eait to see what it is like by the end of the first 12 weeks. I am going on holidays to the US and I can't wait tio have my first acne free holiday!!!!

I get my liver checked again in 2 weeks and I hope it is ok casue I really want to se the meds through :) Do it!!! seriosuly I wish I did it years ago!

I realize this was an old post, but in case someone else is reading this. Check your drug interactions. I'm pretty sure you're not suppose to take them together.

That is what happens on the first month of accutane. Then your breakouts will decrease until they don't come at all!

you are too young to drink anyway

If you are more concerned about your drinking than your skin, you are either an alcoholic or you clearly don't have that much of an acne problem

I have beeen on roaccutane for about 12 days. At first it seemed to be improving slightly but now my skin is terribly breaking out as well as on my shoulders back, chest and arms but those places have just a few pimples but on my face the breakout is quite bad but I know  this is because the roaccutane is working. My derm also said that it will last for a few weeks and by the mid of the 2nd month onwards it will only be improvement ill see. So hopefully this works  oh and i would like to know if you can have alchohol while on this course or will it worsen it in any way?

I have been on accutane for about two weeks, my face OMG has gone crazy!!! My lips and face have been sooooo dry! But those are the only side affects, the medicine says it can cause depression and back pain etc. but actually this medicine has made me 100% more happy??? is that possible??? Although my back is 10X better!!! It used to be so alien like but now the lumps have gone down and it is smoother!!! My face though is the problem, i have the most severe acne...but with all other antibiotics i have been on they all do the same, bring your acne out and then it clears up! But from all of my friends who have taken it, this is one of the quickest and most effective route you cant take! Everyone is different though, so the first two week for me has only brought more break outs, and very dry skin and lips, i tried using carmex on my lips nothing...better though, and on my face god just forget it I've done almost everything! Wish me luck, and the same for you!!!! :)

I`ve been on it for about 2 months, for the first month my skin was dreadful, I don’t really wear make up, but for about a month I made an exception! But at the beginning of month 2 I started to see HUGE improvements, I was having small breakouts when I was stressed with college, but nothing like before, it would take 10x quicker too heel.  My doctor told me that for the first month and a half, you have acne under the skin so it will be much worse than what you started off with, but as soon as that "under the skin acne" goes improvements will happen to your skin trust me!
