i am in my 5th month and it is working like a miracle! i used to touch my face and feel bumps, now my face is the softest part of my body. I still have a slight amount of scaring but they say it will go away as i continue this treatment for the last month. If i just wear the lightest amount of foundation my face is flawless! i completely recommend this. nothing had ever worked for me before. i did break out pretty bad in the second month but it was so worth it. i havent had a pimple now in 3 months! dry lips..yes and rarely dry skin, so go for it!

I just started my second course of roaccutane and i recommend it to anyone. i first went on it 2 years ago. for the first 3 months of treatment i had quite sever side effects. my acne became worse then it ever had been and i ended up on prednisone (steriod) and antibiotics. it also slows down the healing of the pimples so the breakout lasted for some time. my skin was peeling all over my face and my lips were a mess, however after 3 months of taking it my skin became perfect almost over night, i did not have one pimple. my skin stayed perfect for 2 years however has recently become worse then it has ever been and i had forgotten how horrible it is to have acne. i immediately went to my dermatologist and got back on it because for me it was truly a miracle cure. it is 6 months of hell but the results for me were absolutely fantastic. my dermatologist told me that most people need to go on roaccutane twice. id tried the antibiotics, creams and expensive treatments for years but none of it worked. if you want results i strongly recommend this medication. however the side effects can be much more serious than what i experienced so it very much depends on the individual. my cousin had to stop taking it because he had constant nose bleeds. im a little nervous right now because i am one week in and im just waiting for my skin to break out really badly just like it did last time but at least now i know its worth it in the end. another good thing about it is i found i rarely had to wash my hair because your body just stops producing oil. i feel i am more prepared for what is ahead this time around and i have a tube of paw paw oiuntment in every bag i own. i found it is the best thing for my lips and ive been using a hemp cream for my face. the dryness of the skin is definitely managable if you have the right products. i also recommend going on roaccutane during winter because you are so sensitive to the sun. one other thing i learnt about being on this medication is do not squeeze. i have two very large scars on my face from squeezing zits while being on this medication so just be careful. but regardless of the severe breakout, dry skin and sensitivity to the sun i did not hesitate once to go back on this medication because i know that in a few months time my skin will be absolutely perfect and hopefully will stay that way for a few more years.

of all the friends ive had go on this drug they have all had the same great results as i have. to me this drug is a miracle cure.

good luck to anyone thinking of starting this medication and just make sure you prepare yourself for whats ahead so you can manage these common side effects and hopefully have the same amazing results as i have.

i've always had bad skin and tried everything.....but recently someone told me about roaccutine and after consulting a doctor...i'm taking 40mg a day...ts been a week and a half now...and my skin is dryer but the acne is still pretty much coming out really big...so far no side effects except dry skin and lips....i have severe  acne but its not as bad as some of the pictures i see......whenever one comes out...its huge!.....and the good part is...its only my face....my back, chest everything else is fine...never had acne there.....my question to u guys is that, how long till the acne starts to subside? its my best friend's wedding in a month and i dont wanna look really ugly with the sudden outburst that everyone is talking about.....when does the outburst actually occur and then is done??

I've been on accutane for a 2 months and 11 days taking 40mg per day throughout. I broke out big time on my back and face in the first couple weeks. As treatment has progressed, my face has cleared a little and now is just dry and a bit flaky. However, my back is worse than I've ever seen it and bloody all the time. The nodular and cystic acne on my back is extremely painful so I just hope this works. Side effects have been crazy chapped lips, periodic headaches, fatigue, lots of bloody noses, body aches, dry eyes all the time and sleep problems coming from a guy who sleeps like a rock. I've heard nothing but success stories from my friends though, so I hope I can just get through this. Have patience! Be strong!

Accutane (Roaccutane) does have side affects. I'm on the 5th month now and have had many problems, for example the usual dry lips and skin, but almost joint problems, major headache, and sick feeling.

My doctor said it gets worse before it gets better. So thats probably what happened.

I just want to say, the people that have those side effects or end up with problems after Accutane aren't keeping in contact with their doctor. YOU HAVE TO TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR. If they don't know the early warning signs then they can't help you.
Another thing, the reason why you're breaking out is because the medication is PUSHING the acne out from the inside. It's not getting worse, it's getting better. That pimple that is on your face today started maybe 2 months ago. So you can't expect the acne to go away over night. Be patient and be smart about the medication, follow the directions and speak with your doctor regularly. Questions you're asking online could probably be better answered by your doctor.

Ive been on accutane for one month now. The first week I noticed plenty of tiny whiteheads, especially in my first day taking it. Since then, my face has only continuously got better. My acne was moderate-severe. Today is day 31 and I'm 90% clear. Side effects I experienced was pretty severe back pain. Peeling and flaking of lips, mood swings in the first few days, and sunlight sensitivity. Completely worth it. Accutane does work for the vast majority. It is a miracle drug and you WILL see improvement. It may get worse before it gets better, but that's just all the impurities being pushed to the surface faster than normal.

Years ago (When I was 24) I was on accutane for 4 months.  I am now 47 years old.  I am living proof of this drug.

I must say aside from me getting the lasik surgery this is the best thing I've ever done for myself medically.

Accutane does wonders.  Not only my face got clearer while I was on it...my face even got better over the years.  The only thing that

makes me look 47 is my gray hair..... but when I dye my hair people think I'm 30 years old (no wrinkles...no nothing).... kudos to

Accutane... this is one of those fountain of youth drugs.  Good luck and best wishes to all who uses it.

I took accutane for 6 months and already finished. My skin looks awesome!! I noticed a difference in just two weeks. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better but that's not always the case. I did get really really dry patches on my arms and dry lips. I also had back and joint pain but it all went away. I highly recommend this drug. Its awesome!!! I hope this helps people out there. Don't be afraid, it will change your life.
