Hey there  guys,

I am so glad to have found this website. My husband for the past couple of months was prescribed Klonopin. It first started with just one 2mg once before bedtime. (Apparently this medication is used to help someone sleep). When the told the doctor it didn't work, he raised it to three 2mg pills right before bedtime. Just to inform you my husband was never on any medications at all. He is currently battling severe depression and PTSD. I never knew how horrible taking this medication was. Well somehow I convinced my hubby that Klonopin wasn't working and he should try to stop it. When he had a follow up visit with his doctor ( who wasn't working that day) He saw the doc who was filling in for him. This new doc apparently told him just to stop it completely (cold turkey). She gave him Ambien. He is on 6 different medications. Cymbalta, Welbutrin, Klonopin, and some others for pain. This was a HUGE mistake. Yesterday to be exact, 6 days after stopping the Klonopin he was rushed to the ER. He was having severe tremors, couldn't speak and had cry outbursts because of his frustration. The psych doctor at the VA said that he was so close to having a seizsure. We just got home a couple of hours ago. He OPT to get admitted because if he did he would be sent to the psych ward, which I don't see how since this to me was a medical issue to begin with. Sleeping with him was so scary. The tremors continue and he had horrible nightmares. You guys are so right when you talk about support. I have been there for him every step of the way. I am just so angered and frustrated as to why these docs prescribe such medications to people and then hear about all of these reactions and nightmares people are having. I am definitely glad that my hubby won't see these pysch docs anymore. I am really angry at the one who prescribed it and then the one who just told him to stop cold turkey. What kind of c**p is that?
If anyone out there can offer me any advice I would so greatly appreciate it. THe ER psych doc told us that he should go back on Klonopin and be taken off gradually. Should I take his advice? He has 1mg and was told to take it twice a day. Should I just have him take one pill of 1mg of should I have him go back to 2mg which is the way he originally started. HELP!
