Hi, guys. I have been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for years. However, I have recently found out that I have Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia as well. I would like to ask someone whether this is normal or not. Why has this happened? I would appreciate all your advices. Thank you, folks. Bye!

Hi, there. I am sorry to hear that. I guess you have been using steroids since you have rheumatoid arthritis. Steroids weaken immune system. Weaken immune system is one of the risk factors for pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. You should consult your rheumatologist for this. I am sure he will modify your therapy. He must include some sulfa-containing antibiotics. I hope everything will be all right. Bye!
