I am 25 years old adult. I have been suffering from stomach discomfort from my childhood itself. My discomfort includes lack of digestion, bloating, high gas in stomach, increased hate against some food, Hatred of oily food, and so on, I saw a lot of doctors, but no use. later when I was almost 21, I also developed symptoms of depression and consulted a psychiatrist, and am taking antidepressants for almost 4 years, still taking. Still stomach problem exists. Is there any relation between mental depression and stomach problems? I am really fed up with this dirty disease. Please any one help me ........

Hi Rabah,
I sympathize with you because I had the same issue not so long ago, but not as badly. Your stomach and your brain have a much stronger relationship than most people realize. If you're depressed, if directly affects your stomach...and vice versa. Its the stress...it does terrible things to the body...and the first sign of stress is usually an unsettled stomach.
You may have already seen these if you've been searching online...but these links are a good place to start figuring out the root cause. Hope this helps.

Hello. I dont think there could be any relation between your stomach problems and depression. I mean, not a direct reason. But if you think about it your stomach problems might have caused your depression indirectly. I mean, if you are having a discomfort for such a long time and no one can tell you why it is normal to be depressed. It must be hard having problems like these all the time and not knowing how to treat it. Especially after you visited doctors and they do not know. I just watched a House MD episode where a guy creates a hostage situation just so someone can diagnose him. He said he has been to 16 doctors but no one could treat him. In the end it turned out that the reason why he kidnapped patients and doctors because he could not stand not know whats wrong with him. So i mean to say, i understand how tough it can be. Dont give in on depression, try to fight it. And try searching for another opinion.
