Hi, I am a twenty nine years old man. Few months ago I got married. My wife is pregnant now. I am very happy but also very worried about that. You see when I was a child I suffered from cherubism. This illness caused me a lot of psychological pain. The kids at school used to make fun of me all the time and that made me unhappy. I am worried that my child might be affected by cherubism. Am I right to be worried?

Hi, I am very sorry that you had to go trough your childhood with cherubism. But it is all behind you now and you have a normal life. Unfortunately your child might have to go trough the same problems you experienced. Cherubism is a genetically inherited condition. Male children are one hundred percent affected by cherubism but girls have a fifty-fifty chance of not having the characteristic signs of this condition. No matter what happens, and even if the symptoms of cherubism are expressed in your child, you should not worry because these symptoms will go away after the puberty.
