Hi, I am a mother of two months old boy. He has a problem. He was born with a broken leg. Doctors made some blood tests. These tests showed low level of calcium which caused the bones to be week. Also, the tests showed a higher level of serum alkaline phosphate. He was under a therapy. My son's leg healed. His calcium and serum alkaline phosphate levels were getting normal. But as soon as the quantities of the medicine were reduced, the level of serum alkaline phosphate was getting high. The doctors concluded that my son was suffering from Idiopathic hyper phosphatasia. I am wondering what kind of illness Idiopathic hyper phosphatasia is?

Hi, I am very sorry about your son. I am sure he is going trough a lot. The idiopathic hyper phosphatasia is a rare condition. It is genetic. It is manifesting as inability to transform woven in a lamellar bone. There were some cases of mental and sexual immaturity as well. Since this is an inheritable condition, you should try to find out if there were cases of Idiopathic hyper phosphatasia in your family. The thing is that this is very rare illness and you should listen to the doctors who will probably direct you to a specialist. I know that your son will get treated properly.
