ME TOO!!! Too fubby....and my roomie and I have been talking for years about him wanting to open a bookstore/coffee shop. Myself, I'd like a little eclectic restaurant in Napa Valley somewhere.....no one central cuisine style, ethnic theme nights, kind of a fusion effect....really creative and experimental, and of course, we'd give wine education classes, have speakers and tastings from the local vineyards, stuff like that. And do some sort of support of the homeless/soup kitchens too. And definitely sponsor some local races with post race goodies and fund raising events.
But I haven't thought much about it either....;)

Soup shop here too....my husband has a vision of me being the soup Nazi. Not many places make homemade soup, and for some reason I'm pretty well know for soup....I make it alot for church functions, and people often sign up just because I'm making soup. During lent, I make soup for 150 on Tuesday afternoons.

A little restaurant on the beach, only open from about 6 - 10 every night, with only a certain number of seating per nite and a fixed menu (which changes nightly) of certain specialty items. It would be right next to the bar/fun food place on the beach that serves fried oysters and always has fun local people in it. {sigh}. Nope, never though about it. Not at all.

FWIW - I would never get back into the food service business. Crappy hours and non--stop dealing with the public.

I'll take an office job any day thank you.

I LOVE Jamba Juice! :fubby:
I would want to open a bakery. Croissants, cookies, cannolis... cute little sweet things that are as tasty as they are pretty.

I used to think that too, I swore I'd never work in another restaurant again evah! But it has a certain allure some days.

I totally agree with the certain allure on some days but those feelings are fleeting. I don't want to have to do it day after day after day ever again.

Yeah, but if you owned the place, you wouldn't necessarily have to work ALL the crappy hours....

I would like to run a restaurant like one my friend worked at in Chicago. They take in homeless people, train them to work in the restaurant giving them a skill, and the restaurant functions fully. The people are then able to find other jobs, are fed, proceeds help pay and feed the homeless as well as continue the project, and the food is actually a pretty good meal...

Unless you're a total control freak about it who knows no one else can do anything as well as you would do it so you have to be there the whole time so that no one else messes anything up. No, I'm not bitter.
