So i like this girl we are both in high school and we talk quite a bit i can make her laugh and i really like her, but we are good friends and i dont know if she would date me or not so i'm a little hesitant i dont want to make things awkward between us. Would doing something sweet for valentines day help?

You should ask yourself if you prefer taking the risk of losing her friendship but maybe getting a girlfriend or not doing anything and keep this relationship the way it is now for some more time. Of course if you make a movement on Valentines you will send your message. probably if you give her a little something you will see her reaction and get to a more clearly conclusion if she's up to another kind of relationship, but there's always the risk of scaring her and losing this friendship.
