As your obgyn said, you are "completely normal". Vulva's vary in colour (color), size and appearance and are NOT affected by masturbation or sex, and may change as you grow older. Consequently, do not worry.
However, if you continue to be dry when you have sex, use a water based lubricant such as Almond Oil; you could also use that when you masturbate too and try not to "scratch".
