I had two experiences of something very similar. Initially It seemed like a case of Deja Vu, I was desperately trying to recall a half remembered image or dream that always failed to fully materialise. At this point my head started swimming and I felt sick. It passed quite quickly, but the intensity of the episode left me with a strange feeling of disorientation and loss of not being able to recall the events I was trying to remember. This was all built around quite a serious infection that I was unaware of at the time, but broke shortly afterwards, however I still have a sense of the intensity of the feeling I experienced.

I'm surprised but so relieved to discover that other people have these odd episodes. Mine have been happening for around 20 years. I experience what is like a performance going on in my head. It's similar to deja vu in that it's the same every time. I 'see' distinctive images and know exactly what's coming next. When I realise that it's happening again, my whole body has a burning sensation and I feel nauseous. After about 30 seconds, I'm actually able to go further into the 'dream', which strangely I nearly always want to do, despite the nausea, or come back to the present.
It's a very worrying experience because it's strange, sort of unreal, but mainly because I have no clue what it is or why it's happening.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Its reassuring reading these posts, I am a 54 year old woman and have been getting these episodes for around 12 months. Deja Vu like I'm trying to remember a dream and just quite can't grasp it and that makes me panicky and light headed. They are quite scary - maybe hormone related I don't know but will probably try meditation. Interestingly enough I haven't seen my chiropractor for a couple of years and was interested in those posts mentioning that.

I have had something similar since I was 9. I assume it's panic anxiety. I can feel when it's going to happen, before it happens and it's like a part of my brain starts dreaming. I get an adrenaline rush and my entire body gets all cold, my legs get very weeka nd I can barely stand, I also swallow over and over again very fast for a few seconds. When this happens it's also hard for me to keep my eyes open and I have to go sit down somewhere else and need to just close my eyes and ears and be alone for like a minute. Afterwards I get like... After "symptomes", it's usually a heavy headache and I get extremely warm and sweat like crazy for a few seconds. Sometimes I almost throw up on the spot, and sometimes I get the sudden feeling that I need to... go for a number 2. For the rest of the day I will feel extremely fatigue.
I first thought it was stress but I can get it any time and it usually happens more than once every day for like 2 weeks, then it stopps for... I don't know, 2 weeks? a month? 4 months? a year? it's completely random. I can also get it in my sleep(thought it's not a problem then, since I can just go back to sleep afterwards).
I've also had a few times when that feeling has lasted entire days. I really want to know what's wrong because at this point I won't be able to get a drivers license.

Oh wow. I am so glad I found this post. This happens to me all the time, and I have been afraid to mention it to my doctor because A) I had no idea how to describe it, and B) she'd probably think I was nuts. But the exact same thing happens to me: sudden deja vu feeling, followed by what I think a hot flash feels like (I'm 33), a short, sharply intense headache and extreme nauseau. It is comforting to know I am not the only one, and I now feel like I can talk to my doctor about it.

I thought I was the only one who had this happen! For me it starts kind of like a headrush, when I get up too fast after sitting for a while. I get what can only be described as deja vue, but of my life. Almost as if I was watching from an outsiders perspective. I also sometimes can't or find difficulty moving, like I forget how and what I'm supposed to be doing. The most recent time would be I got up to hug my gramma good bye, and when I got over to her those things happened and I had a moment of not being able to raise my arms. One time I also partially fainted (didn't lose conciousness) and I felt a tingling all over and fell to the floor. If this is a thing that can be treated or something please reply.

These post are so helpful. Thank you for sharing. I get the rushed feeling of deja vu (anything can trigger it, it's usually something visual) but have not idea what the memory is, then a rush of heat from my toes to my head (enough were I am sweating) and then nausea. This last about 20 to 30 seconds. I have had them time to time in the last year. However when I have them I have many a day. I started having them yesterday and its gone into today. Yesterday I had 11, today 3 so far. They are awful. I have an appointment with a neurologist next week.

I have had this feeling many times. Once I choose to just push through and ignore it, as I usually sit down, and close my eyes until it passes, but unfortunately I accidentally fainted! I went to the doctor and afyer testing my blood pressure that I had some version of syncope. When Im standing or sitting my blood pressure gets a lot lower than it should. The doctor said the deja vu feeling is very common with people that have this problem. Its a sign that your blood pressure is very low. So now I know that laying down when this happens is the best option for me.

I'm 40 and have been experiencing this since early adulthood. I had a traumatic childhood and near death (coma) from what I believe was a suicide attempt. Some things are better left unknown, I think. I wish these episodes would stop.

This happens to me a few times a year and has done so for at least 30 years or so. I call them "flashes". They make me so nauseous and sick and can be debilitating. I am also so relieved that others have this experience. I just wish there was an explanation and a treatment!
