I think you're dead on. Lack of water. Dehydration brings on panic attacks and dejavu.
I had my biggest attack this morning. The visual dejavu (the feeling I was here before thinking about the exact same thing) went away after a couple mins, but I kept having minor episodes, and smelling something familiar but not identified that related to the past for almost a half hour. Then panic/light headedness came and went, but I could still feel the effects for 20 mins or so. I left for work, and had a weird feeling like I wasn't going the right way or wondering why I was listening to the radio station that was on (my favorite one!). I guess this was lingering panic. I knew I just had to breath deep, drank some of my coffee (I know caffeine may add to dehydration) and get to something or someone that is a constant in my morning, to make me feel like I was back to normal. Finally back at work, I felt normal. But it was a good hour of not feeling normal. I get de ja vu maybe twice per year.....so this one was scary!

It is a horrible feeling, that's for sure. I too am relieved to find others with this malady. I just wish it can be avoided altogether. Thanks for sharing!

I have been having the same thing since the first grade when I simply looked up at the clock and it hit all the sudden. Its starts out like recalling a dream and everywhere I look after the initial trigger which can be anything from clock to the computer to simply walking into a room or even just now talking on the phone, its like being back in dream looking at the exact same thing again. It usually last for a about 30 seconds to a minute or two and I start to feel really uneasy and get really hot all over especially my head and I break out in a sweat and feel kinda faint. Then it passes and I almost get a chill from the sweat and suddenly cooling off. Im left sitting or standing there with this really uneasy feeling trying to explain to someone why im so pale and freaked out looking. Im now 37yrs old and they happen probably couple times a year sometimes more often in the span of a few months but nothing regular or that I can link to anything in paticular. Ive never passed out but I would really like to know what it is and that Im not crazy.

Hi :) I have severe TBI with sezure's . I had the same symptoms for months 2+3 a week lasting 2-4 min. severe nausea puked violently , strong smell in nose ( amonia , dizziness . Last July I was sitting in the ER waiting room. There was a guy sitting next to me, all of a sudden he went ballistic . It scared me so bad that I had one of those attach and the nex thing I woke
Up 2 hrs later in a treatment room, I had , had a grand maul sezure's for 8 min, went into a full cardiac arrest for 15 min. They didn't know if I was going to make it. Spent 9 days in the hospital. Since I have TBI x 4 two before age 4, I still have mild seizures they have upped my seizure medicine 3 times in 8 months . Just got the news from my neurologist that there is nothing they can do is give me seizures, to get my will made , tell my kids im a DNR . He said the next one will be the same , but I will have a cardiac arrest. The neurologist said the attaches were mini sezure's . The attaches I was having were cardiac arrest. Thinking the heart symptoms is that , seizure triggered cardiac arrest . The only thing that saved me was a RN less then ,4 feet away , he started CPR and called a code Blue.

Hi, I had the same crazy deja vu followed by what felt like a very physical anxiety attack. dizziness, heart felt too big in my chest making me unable to breathe. "I have to lie down, something is very wrong..." The deja vu was a big clue because it felt so neurological. I was so so so grateful when I found this forum. I suspected it might be hormone related since I am 54 and probably going through some changes. But my doctor said that my blood work showed good on everything except iron. (I have always been anemic.) My hormones were fine. He said that he knew I have taken a low dose of zoloft for 20 years have I been skipping days? Yes! I am so casual I have gotten to the point where I take a pill when I remember or when I feel like it. --- BAD!

He said you can not do that with those types of drugs. Take the same amount every day at the same time. He had seen this before and was very confident that this was the case. I have followed his directions and not had another episode. I hope this helps someone on this page because you all really helped me.

With love and prayers for your complete recover. Lisa

So even though this post is old I thought I would share. I am a generally healthy 26year old female and for years I have experienced this déjà vu however today it happened 7 times!! It comes randomly, which there is no consistency of what triggers it, and it lasts about 1 minute. I would say it happens about 1 time a month or could happen 3 times in a week, its completely random. It sometimes happens when driving but I am able to still focus well enough while driving.
It starts with a thought or an image or a place that makes me feel like its an exact memory from a dream. Immediately it triggers the déjà vu feeling and then I get flashes of memories or dreams, like a fast slide show of portions of dreams that I don’t remember having. At the same time my stomach starts churning starting at a low intensity then growing more and more intense until at the height of it I feel nauseous. Its like Im on a rollercoaster that is about to drop and in my head I am saying Oh no Oh no because the feeling in my stomach is coming. This is the part where I start breathing heavily, Im wincing at the churning feeling in my stomach and I literally must stop what im doing. After this happens everything passes. At the end I don’t remember ANYTHING. I don’t remember what thought/image triggered it. I don’t remember the memories that flashed. I am confused and very foggy. I am slow to respond when people ask questions or talk to me immediately after.
I was driving home and trying to explain to my boyfriend that I can feel it happening again. I later asked him what did I say when explaining my déjà vu was coming back. . . he said I told him I was having a stroke LOL.I certainly do Not remember saying that at all although I literally could not remember anything I said to begin with. I scheduled an appointment with my Dr on Monday (today is Tuesday). Will update later, hoping to see a neurologist eventually.

This experience started back in 2014 for me a few months after my wife died. Deja Vu times 1000. The more I try to concentrate on the feeling that I know I have felt before the more I feel nauseas and start to poor sweat. I can never figure out where the feeling comes from cuz I eventually feel to sick to keep going. Recently I've had suck strong attacks a very specific smell comes up. Same thing, I can't figure out where I k ow this smell from. What makes the smell worse though is that I can't get away from it so it forces me to stay in this moment where I'm poori g sweat and dry heaving or puking. I'm glad to see other people have similar experiences.

This has been happening to me EXACTLY for a year now on and off! I've had a lot of testing done MRI, 48hr EEG, blood work. Everything has come out normal. However, I did not have one of these episodes while I was on the EEG.

I'm curious about how you feel after this is over. After I get mine (usually in the morning after or during a shower) I feel very panicked and then I feel very strange and in a dream like state that can last a very long time.

It's a very frightening experience. If anyone wants to exchange email or facebook and talk more privately about these experiences please feel free to ask.

Afterwards I feel dazed out. Like I feel like im not all there. It actually makes me feel very tired. My head hurts and I overall feel extremely foggy and just in general my body does not feel good. This feeling can last up to a few hours after I have an episode. And yes, I concur on the "dream like state" feeling.

It sucks that these things happen sporadically so it's hard to catch them when they happen. Would be nice if the brain could cooperate with the eeg testing to show what is going on. Since your results came back normal, then what did your dr do? Did the dr just say you're fine and thats it?

Today I meet with my primary care physician

(Browncow speaking & also my reply^^)

I would also like to point out that my memory has been sh*t ever since Tuesday (today is monday). I ended up having 9 episodes on Tuesday (the most it ever happened in 1day).

Ever since then I have been forgetful. At work I forget to do certain things but the most forgetfulness is during a conversation.
Lets say im talking to someone and the person says that X happened to them & I contribute to the convo like Oh something similar happened to me so I tell them the story of Y. . . While I am talking i will forget what I am saying. I will forget Why im talking about it and the point I was trying to make of why it is relevant to the conversation. (Which has never happened before after having an episode). Although the forgetfulness is getting a little better.

40 year old healthy male- I have had this same thing on many diffrent occasions and everyone thought I was either crazy or just imagining things, The only person that had epalepsey in my family was my uncle at a very young age so I guess its possible to be that but I do not buy it for some reason. There are things out there we are not aware of but I do feel much better knowing I am nog alone in this thing. Bless you guys. Iam Nick btw maybe we can start some type of group? I would like to read more about this topic and possibly help each other out. ....With me it was a suddon vizulation of certin parts of a dream I had in the not so distant past During these 20-30 seconds I would almost blank-out completly, start sweating, clammy feeling, light headiness, but at the same time very focused on the dream itself.Once it passes I cannot for the life of me recall what the dream was about! Thats why it drives me crazy why can I not remember what I was just thinking about 30 seconds ago! Weird? Yes!

Just came back from my primary care dr. At first he thought my episodes are caused by Accutane which I have been taking for the last 5 months. He said accutane can cause neurological side effects.

BUTT the more I describe my feelings he said I am definitely describing an Aura and he definitely thinks I am having seizure activity. I an getting referred to a neurologist.
