My boyfriend has been on medications for years. He is on Seroquil and Celexa for mania and depression. He takes 3 Seroquil a day and one Celexa. He focuses way to much on making "it", getting "it", being a man, eating, sending off energy (vibes). He gets consumed by it. So, I told him that he should cut back. He did and was a lot more focused on real life and what needed to be done. Then, he got real paranoid, was hearing a lot of voices, cold sweats, insomnia . . . So he started taking it again and decided that he needs it. He is so much better (mentally) when he is off it . . . aside from the withdrawals. I don't beleive in meds bc they only made me sicker. I was in jail and used them and they messed me up. We are both recovering addicts. What should I do? I feel like every day is a struggle to get through the day with him.

Hello, I have enough experience to let you know that Seroquel will destroy your Boyfriend's central nervous system, just like Lithium and cause a hugh amount of damage to the rest of his body and brain. He needs to go off of it slowly and find another medication (perhaps newer) that can co-exist with the Celexa. The main problem with most psych meds is of course drug interactions and side effects, so everything taken should be cross referenced on your computer or PDR. The Doctors and Pharmacy seem to be prescribing lots of these drugs without really knowing what can happen to one's mental or physical well being. Kassady, Genetically Challenged - Without Meds and Surviving just fine with proper rest, nutrition and calm environment.
