The short answer is yes, it is certainly possible to get pregnant if you have unprotected sex during the first 7 days of taking birth control pills. Because you're only in the first month of your pills, however, there is also a chance that this could be some breakthrough bleeding/spotting, especially since this is the week before your period.
My recommendation would be to wait at least a few more days and take a home pregnancy test, or see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test. The home tests are most accurate starting five days before your period should begin, whereas the clinical blood tests are accurate 7-10 days before the start of your period.
I know that this can be a very stressful situation to be in, but the best thing you can do is try to relax and de-stress a little bit. It may be worth it to you to go see your doctor, just to put your mind at ease...I know that sometimes the worry of not knowing can be extremely stressful.
I hope this helps, and best of luck! :-)

Thanks for the information but The doctor told me to start the birth control before my period which I was post to start my period on Nov-7th and she told me to start taking the birth control on Nov-2nd and I did so what does that mean but it started out being light brownish pink then it went to being very heavy..and I'm heaving back aches and cramping and this started just 8 days after first starting the birth control so you think it could just be the breakthrough bleeding? and we had sex just 1 to 2 days after starting the pills? Thanks ashley!!!

I think it's just getting used to the pill. And since the brownish pink turned into a full period, i think that's what it was, your period. Because you were so close to getting your period when you started your pill, i would say your ok.

Okay, yes, that definitely makes more sense. Like the other person said, it was probably just your period since it was about time for it anyway, and your body just hasn't had time to be regulated by the pill yet.
Breakthrough bleeding is very common within the first three months of being on a new pill, so it may take a couple of months for your cycle to fall on a normal schedule. Also, if you normally have back aches and cramping during your period, it may take a while for those to go away with the pill too--Even when you're on the pill, you may have some PMS-like symptoms. However, if this isn't something you normally experience and if it is constant and/or persists for much longer, you may want to see your doctor just to be on the safe side.

It is possible that you could continue bleeding through your normal period week; however, it's impossible to tell what will happen since every body responds differently.
As far as your next question, it's really up to you.
You could finish up your current pack and take the inactive pills as usual; however, keep in mind that if you decide to do that and the bleeding stops during that week, I would err on the side of caution and use a backup method of birth control for the next couple of weeks since your schedule has been unpredictable--But that's just what I would do, just to be on the safe side.
On the other hand, if you decide to start a new pack on Sunday, you will not have to worry as much about using a backup method because you will be taking the active pills. Since Lo/Ovral is a monophasic pill (meaning each pill contains the same amount of hormones), it is easier to transition into your new pill pack (skipping the usual period week) with less disruption to your cycle; however, you may still experience some breakthrough bleeding at first, and it will definitely take the next couple of months before your cycle returns to normal.
If you have any more questions, I would be happy to (try to) help!

I'm glad to help! I went through a similar situation just a couple of weeks ago, and I was MAJORLY stressing out because I was convinced I was pregnant because I was experiencing breakthrough bleeding, even though I'm on the fourth month of my pills and take them religiously! I went to the doctor, and the blood pregancy test came back negative...Huge relief! But since then, my cycle has been off too--I've been spotting ever since my last period, although I did skip my period week and went right on to my next pill pack just to make sure I was protected. I'm currently on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, but because of the breakthrough bleeding and such, my doctor is switching me to Lo/Ovral since it has a little more estrogen in it. This is the first time I've had to deal with breakthrough bleeding like this, and I've been on the pill for about a year and a half now...It's sooo stressful!
Good luck at the doctor! :-D

Okay I'm on my first pack of Lo/Ovral 28, when am I supposed to start my period? When I take the first pink pill?
Is it possible to get pregnant when I am using the pink pills?
Is it normal to skip a period in the first month or two of taking the pills?
