I had mine done at a surgical center by my obgyn. I went in about an hour before my appointment per their instructions. They had me pee in a cup, put on a gown and put on socks. Then I went and laid on a stretcher and they gave me a valium, pepcid and tylenol. They numbed my hand and put in an iv. I fell asleep waiting so I dont know how long I was there but after a while they came and wheeled me to another room where they moved me from the stretcher to a table, put on monitors, all that good stuff. Anesthetic in and oxygen mask on and I was out. Woke up in my own room a couple hours later, they took my vitals, gave me some ice to make sure i could eat and drink ok, gave me a care sheet and I was done. A little cramping, some icky discharge but all in all simple, painless and not a big deal. I did take that night off and I slept the rest of the day and night and part of the next day. easy peasy.

I'm 33 and am diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in situ after my leep 7/18/13 and pathology report and my gynocologist suggested that I see a gyn onc for consultation if I want to have a baby and possibly will need a cerclage due to cervix being short. I think I have about 1.5cm of cervix left but might not carry a baby to full term. I just wanted to know if you had gone to a gyn onc before getting pregnant and also how do you know what stage you're at? I don't want a hysterectomy; I'm still young and wanting at least a child or 2 before everything dries up.
Also, anyone out there fine after LEEP, gone thru the normal light pd, black or brown discharge for a few days to 2wks and fine, but after a month later I started a spot to light pd for 2 days and this just started on 3rd day, I'm getting somewhat of heavy pd/clots though only changing pads every 2-3 hrs. Is this something I should keep an eye on for a few days if it gets worse; I'm hoping this is my pd, though I do have irregular pds. I am getting my 1st follow up coming up this wk and I'm not sure if I keep having my period that I should still see my gynocologist for follow up or reschedule. Thanks!

I had leep done 7 weeks ago. Worst 7 weeks of my life. i thought I was dying. Not recoered yet. First of all, with my first period, I had so much blood loss with big clots that I ended up in ER. Afterwards, they found a bacteria in the area of the wound and I had to use really heavy antibiotics for this infection. I had terrible discharge and pain. Afterwards, my hormones changed. My second period was also worse, so much bleeding. I started throwing up every morning, I lost so much weight. I don't know yet if I will survive. I am shaking, got psychological issues, can't sleep, can't eat. This is something worst that can happen to a woman or the worst I have had experienced. By looking at chances to develop the cancer, I can just relieve a bit that it will prevent cancer. But, it is not certain either. i have no idea if the wound healed correctly. Next coming days will show. i hope nobody goes through all these. Not really easy to handle. I have no partner, don't know if this is good or bad. But, i am not thinking of any sexual relation for a long long time.

I have a question...I had a LEEP and the pathology report shows NOTHING on the chunk of the cervix the doctor took out. Has this happened to anyone else? My doctor is very confused!

I had a leep done 3 weeks ago, in my doctors office, and it was no big deal. I've read so many horror stories and I just wanted to put some minds to rest. Actually, in my opinion, a colposcopy was more painful! The worst part was the injection to numb the cervix. My heart was pounding for a minute or two after, then I was fine. Walked out 20 minutes later with mild cramping and that's it. As long as u follow your doctors orders after the procedure (no lifting, sex, or strenuous exercise for 3 weeks in my case), you shouldn't have problems. I did get my period a week earlier than normal, but it was worth it!!! My small lesion came back high grade and I'm so glad I did this!

I had LEEP done 2 days ago and I have had little pain, but extreme exhaustion, and I have not been in my right mind. Lots of brain fog! I've also been depressed and feeling anxious. Definitely not myself. I've also been retaining a lot of fluid, which could be from the anasthesia. I hope I never have to do this again!

For anyone coming here for information for an upcoming leep, I had mine done this past Thursday. Reading lots of posts before hand was a brilliant and stupid thing all in one. It prepared me for the worse. When I had it done I turned down getting out under and I re com ed that to anyone going for it. The needle hurts a little and it makes you shake and your chest feels heavy for only a few minutes (completely normal) I have had minimal cramps.

My only concern is i am exhausted non-stop. I don't know if this is normal, o

I had LEEP on 2/21/14. The GYN was from Kaiser Permanente. The pain was absolute torture. I think that I was not grounded. I have been left with permanent peripheal  neuropathy ( whole body nerve damage). I would have rather died from cervical cancer. Since this is  $5,000 /one hour "procedure" I am just wondering how many are really necessary. I can't sue them, so  all I can say is - have a person with you and say "STOP". this is hard to do when you are screaming in pain and being held down.

A normal health body is able to fight off the HPV and build antibodies against the diesase mostly likely if you husband is healthy he has built an immunity to HPV and does not have it. I had the LEEP procedure last April and unfourtnatley I am going for a 2nd on in 4 weeks. I

I know your procedure was a long tie ago but I am on here because I wanted to see if exhaustion was s side effect of the peep. I can see many women have experienced this.
