I am eighteen years old and I have recently started taking birth control pills. I have been on them for 2 months, but i got my period when I still had 3 colored pills left to take and I still have my period. It has been a week and two days that I have had it. Does this mean that the pills are not strong enough for me or something? I need help!

Since this is your first month that you are using those pills, I believe that your doctor should have introduced you to several things that can happen when you start to take birth control pills. When you are taking those pills, you are always wondering how long should period last, but there is no unique answer to this question. Side - effects also can be difficult. You can be emotional, you might feel sick, you might even gain some weight. Also, you can see some spotting in between your periods. Your period is a bit longer than you expected. But since this is a first month, this should be controlled by your gynecologist, because some pills don't fit everyone at the same way.

I put up a similar post except my bleeding has not stopped for a month and accompanied by horrible cramps daily that have me in bed and I have been put on medical leave from work. My doctor said this was definately not normal and the bleeding has been very heavy for the last 7 days yet she has not made an appt for me to come in. I am supposed to have an endometrial ablation and she has not taken me off the birth control and can't figure out why. I'm just as confused. I thought I would bleed a few days then stop then bleed. I've gone through almost 4 boxes of tampons in a month. I really think this is not normal. Any help would be great. Thanks.
