Hi. I have a 12 months old baby and am trying to avoid giving her citric fruits, in order to prevent allergies. What food should I avoid and what about yogurt? Yogurt is good for babies but it contains citric acid.

It is a natural preservative is important as an intermediate in the citric acid cycle. Citric acid occurs in the metabolism of practically all living things. It is also an environmentally benign cleaning agent and an antioxidant. Citric acid is most concentrated in lemons and limes (8% of dry weight).

Citric acid is NOT Vitamin C. That would be Ascorbic Acid.
