I have been having some abdominal pains, both on the right and left side, not really sharp pains but pains. I also have constipation for few days. I have had a abdominal x-ray and Cat Scan done. Results showed small mass on colon, but they are not sure what is it. Doctor wants to repeat scan. Is this cancer? How confident the results of the CAT scan are? All my blood work has come back normal.

Hello, I asked my friend radiologists about how confident are those results and he said that as far as cancer detection goes, the only 100% proof is in doing the pathology on a tissue sample. They can make mistake, so I am sure there is a good reason to repeat scan and check that mass on colon again. You should do the Colonoscopy.

Hallo,
You have to understand that these masses on your colon can be anything. I think that you might be having problems with colon ulcers or maybe with colon polyps. You have to understand that this doesn’t have to be cancer so try not to think about it. The only way that they can confirm if this is a cancer is if they do the biopsy of the mass. So if the doctor wants to do more tests than you have to cooperate in order to diagnose this mass as soon as possible. The sooner you know this the sooner the treatment can begin. I hope that this helped you in any way.
All the best to you,
Karen
