One of you is correct, in that the A/B Bioequivlant rating of generics, includes a -15% or +20% dose equivalence, that means, indeed, that the methadose can be more like 8mg. Also, due to binders, and also isomers. roxxane Methadone has all of its molecules the isomers you want, look at adderal and dexedrine, adderall has both d and l amphetamine, roxxane methadone vs methadose is same I believe, you have other isomers that are counter active, also/or you have the fact that some of the binders in methadose can reduce absorption and efficacy of the methadone. so, there are people who have almost died from switching from methadose to roxxane methadone, and there are people who have been real sick from switching from roxxane methadone to methadose. True story.

Methadone is longer acting and doesn't have the lethargic effects and large weight gain as the methadose does. I prefer the methadone and have been on maintenance for almost 22 years.

I don't want to be rude or offend anyone, but this thread may be the greatest source of misinformation I've ever come across in my life. If you have questions -- that's good -- asking questions shows intelligence, and that's what a discussion board is for -- getting answers, but you need to make sure you state your information as a question if you don't know what you are talking about, instead of inadvertently miseducating anyone who is unfortunate enough to come to this site looking for information.
First off, whoever said they use a cocaine base to make methadone/Methadose (as if there was any chemical difference) needs to get their head checked, respectfully, or at least their sources. I have been on Methdone HCL 10mg for about 4 years. Last month I went to another drug store because mine was closed. The guy gave me Methadose and when I called him on it he says"they are the same! Is he CRAZY!!!
BTW to the guy who said Methadose IS Methadone, Where do you get your information?? I take enough to know. My bottle says equivalent to Dolophine.Mfg:Mallinckrodt. I read that as "a generic form of Dolophine!

He is not crazy. Methadose is a brand name for Methadone which is the generic name of the drug. Dolophine is the original brand name for Methadone, but it is no longer being produced.

and than I got of and was fully in recovery doing wonderful
Until my ex beat the c**p out of me and injured my back.
I was on Demerol and morphine and than the doctors just sent me off on my way and well that monster had been woken up and back on heroin i went and back on methadone i went when i got sick and tired of being sick. Needless to say the last time i got off and the pain was there i tried Oxys and they did help but i hated being all zonky.So I went back on methadone for pain
Imagine that beat it twice and end up back on for pain of all things.
I have taken everything from the orange biscuits,white biscuits, cherry liquid, 5 and 10 MG pills of both methadone and methadose.
I have heard many many discussions on many different programs in three different cities. The topic when a program changes the meds is always the same. Howe much different the new one works.
Honestly I think it is in our head. i mean when we were shooting dope we wanted the red bag with the star stamp that made two folks OD yesterday.

I also want to add While Yes it can have some serious effects when coming off The Key to a easier and more comfortable successful removal from Methadone or Methadose is a SLOW taper. if you go down Very Very slow you will be just fine. My best buddy was on methadone for almost 25 years.he got off a month ago. He did a slow taper of 5 MGs every month Blind dosing meaning they never told him his dose. When he got to 30 MGs he slowed it down and when he got to 15 he stayed for a while and then went down a few milligrams at a time till he was done.
Again he done a blind dose and that helps. As I said I also have come off a few times

drink lots of water take vitamins eat healthy and exercise.
The biggest thing is sleeping it is hard to sleep normally for a week or two sometimes three weeks.
Important thing is that it can be done and you can be a normal person

I was in an MVA June 21st, 2000. I am a Nurse at the age of 21 and I am 60 years old now. I was divorced at 19 with 2 daughters. I am extremely smart, no brag, just fact so I went back to college when I was 43 and majored in Journalism but still worked at Doc's office and he paid me in cash to help me out. The exact MVA that I was in was shown on Dateline a couple of weeks after my wreck. Onle 25% of people survived with this type of wreck while 75% died or had serious injuries. Point is I found a pain clinic in Memphis, Tn. and went there for 5 years. They made it able for me to function without severe pain. They closed and thank the good Lord I found another great Dr. in Memphis. I have been seeing him for over 6 years in Memphis. He has me on Methodone and if you take it as prescribe you will not get "high or a buzz". I guess if you took a handful you would get a buzz. I don't know because I take the medicine as prescribed. When I take it the pain is usually stopped or helps a great deal. He puts on my prescription "Roxane" brand only. He said he does that because there is generic morphine in it. He also said if he didn't specify that the pharmacist could substitute with methadose which doesn't have generic morphine in it so it would not help my pain. He is fantastic Dr. and I love what my Dr. has done for me. Someone that has true pain and takes the medicine as prescribed they will have pain relief. ill tell all of u one thing is... no matter methadose or methadone... u dont want to detox from it! it was the woste and iv done it all... heroin oxys the whole deal... and i never dt'ed of anything as bad... i wanted to die! so if ur new to the whole deal get out while u can! this sh*t grabs u by the balls and wont let go! for months! im clean and sober now and love my life... but for those of u who still suffer, methadone and/or methadose it not the answer!

You are certainly not incredibly smart - you have the grammar skills of somebody that is about 14 years old. For somebody that has been a nurse for almost 40 years, you should understand the concept of active ingredients, generic medications, and brand name formulations. As people have already made clear several times, methadone is the active ingredient in all of these formulations - whether it be methadose, dolphine, or roxane-brand methadone. It is unbelievable you actually start your post with "I'm incredibly smart" and then quickly proceed to make a complete fool out of yourself by proving you have no understanding of basic pharmacy principles, despite the fact that you claim to be a nurse.

If not methadone/methadose......then what do you think we should do?? go back to heroin? go to rehab for detoxing then they discharge you to deal with your c**p ALL by yourself!! Methadone has saved my life, if it wasn't for that who knows where i would be....jail?......dead? nahhh not for me!! If you do the program right and slowly taper down, you will be ok. Maybe it didn't work for you but it doesn't mean it won't work for others!!! Peace:)
