Hello! I am diagnosed with melasma. My dermatologist told me that I should try to treat it with bleaching creams first and if that does not help then we will try some other treatment. Cause of my melasma is contraceptive pills. So, I want to ask you following: should I avoid sunlight regard the fact that I have melasma?

Hello! You really need to avoid sunlight, because sunlight can make worse your melasma. If you must go out on sunlight, you should use daily sunscreen. I can tell you that your problems with melasma will disappear after few months after you stop with taking contraceptive pills. I hope this helps you!

Melasma has genetic and hormonal influences. Sun exposure can worsen melasma. I would consider staying away from direct sunlight, using SPF 30 or above, and treating the area with Melarase AM and Melarase PM + chemical peels.
