My finance had his left testicle removed 3 years ago from testicular cancer, it was hard on both of us, being that we wanted to have a family together. Now, 2 years later, we are TTC, we went 5 months and no luck. A month later, I saw my doctor and she advised me to chart my temperature and buy ovulation test and start trying again. Our first month of trying we had sex almost every day, which we soon learned that we shouldnt be having that much sex, since my period started that month. Second month of TTC, we reviewed my suggested ovulation day and started having sex every other day as ovulation approached. I was almost certain, we would end up pregnant this month, but today i started my period! :-( Should he not drink or smoke? Should we wait longer periods of not having sex because he only has one testicle? or should we wait the day of my ovulation peak? Is there vitamins he should take? Any advice or answers would be really appreciated, we are starting to give up on the hope of adding to our family. He is unable to see a doctor because he doesnt have medical insurance. Help PLEASE!

It would really be helpful if he could see his doctor. A sperm count would be beneficial to trying to figure out what is going on. Your doctor would be the best person to ask regarding these other questions but in general you want to have sex a couple (2-3) days or so before your peak. Sperm can remain viable for about 5-7 days.
Don't give up on hope, OK. Hope it helps.
