Im trying to gather some information.. My husband about 5 years ago started to get dizzy. He went to the doctors and they did some testing and said they think it might be mineirs disease but they really didnt know much about the disease.. It only happend to him every once and a while.. well the past couple months he has been getting dizzy every day sometimes numerous times a day. It gets so bad he has to lay down and go to sleep for it to stop.. Some times he gets so dizzy he starts throwing up. He says that his ear is ringing when this happens.. Its really starting to worry me.. He hasnt been to a doctor since he went the first time.. He made an apt but couldnt get in til may.. and it seems to be getting worse and worse.. So Im just trying to research and find as much information about Mineirs as I can.. Ive been reading alot about Virtigo also..

Hi,
It's Meniere's disease and yes, it can make you very dizzy, vertigo. Tinnitus, the ringing in the ears is common as well.
Often the cause of Meniere's is unknown. It could be due to trauma or infection.
What information do you need?

There is no known cure, but it can be managed and treated.
He can try limiting his caffeine and alcohol intake. Also cut back on sodium (salt). Get plenty of rest. Avoid bright lights and sudden movements.
For treatment, sometimes antibiotics are prescribed to be placed directly into the ear. There are some surgical options but they can have serious side effects including loss of hearing.
Are you seeing an ENT doctor, an Otolaryngologist? They would be your best resource.

He hasnt been back to the doctor just because its been managable its just recently that it has gotten really bad.. but that all makes alot of sense because he started drinking alot of energy drinks and alot less water.. I read on another website that getting dehydrated can increase the symptoms. so the past 2 days he has been drinking nothing but water and he has only had one small episode today. so Im starting to think that was the problem.
