Hi, a yr later and I'm reading about this. My doctor for years have not given me an explanation for my period lasting one day. This has not been the case all my life. I am 43 and this has occurred for the last 5 yrs. I feel fine and actually fortunate, but no woman I have asked has experienced this. I, too have no children and have been taken bc pills for 20 yrs. I wonder if there is a correlation? In any case thank you for posting on this topic.

Hello! Many women in my family have a 1 day -1 1/2 day period. It's absolutely normal. Listen to you GYN, they are educated people. It's normal. Most people just don't talk about short periods, especially because it is a blessing and best to hush when most fortunate.

Hi everyone,
I've been feeling quite concerned about having a one day period for the past 3 years. I am 27 years old and have regular 4-6 day periods, full flow prior to this. I also can't think of anything that had drastically changed causing this. The blood tends to be dark red or brown and have tissue or clots, very light and spotting a few days before and after. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 17 months now with no luck and a fertility specialist diagnosed us with "unexplained fertility" basically saying all of our tests came back fine and we should be able to get pregnant. I can't help to think the one day period and light flow has to do with it, even though the doctor says it doesn't. I'm almost certain something is off with my hormones since I developed adult acne at the same time my period changed. Anyways, long story short I saw an acupuncturist who does Chinese medicine along with a Naturpath that explained the circulation in my uterus is bad and not "toned", also that my lining is likely thin making implantation of an embryo difficult. The naturopath also explained that my hormones are within range for a regular doctor to say they are ok but I'm estrogen dominant and my thyroid is slightly underactive. Also we realized even though I was having a period and ovulation predictor kits said I was ovulating, I actually wasn't all the time. They told me to eat a lot of ginger and turmeric during the week of my period and start castor oil packs and fertility massage to help regulate the hormones and bring fresh blood to my uterus. I've noticed my flow is starting to get a bit more normal and I have a bit of bright red blood which is apparently ideal. Hope this info helps someone because I wish I would have done something about it earlier - infertility is a very difficult thing to deal with!
