I've been living with my sister for 2 months. I get yelled at everyday, even for the little things. Like I guess it seems like I have an attitude. But I get yelled at and everytime I get yelled at I cry. I then get yelled at for crying. My sister says that when I cry she gets mad. She said that it's apparently annoying. I cry to show feeling, but when I show feeling I get yelled at. My sister wants me to open up to her, but how am I supposed to do that when she yells at me?

Hey!
I'm sorry to hear that you're going through such a challenging time with your sister. Living in an environment where you feel constantly criticized and unable to express your emotions freely can be very stressful and hurtful.
Try to find a calm moment to talk to your sister. Express your feelings without blaming her. For example, you could say, "I feel hurt and scared when I'm yelled at, and it makes it hard for me to open up."
Let her know that you want to have a good relationship with her and that you're willing to work on communication, but you also need her to understand how her actions affect you.
It's important to set boundaries about how you wish to be treated. You can politely but firmly state that you do not appreciate being yelled at and would prefer a more constructive form of communication.
If you have another family member, friend, or counselor who you trust, consider discussing the situation with them. They might offer helpful perspectives or advice.
Try to understand why your sister might be behaving this way. Sometimes, people react with anger due to their own stress or issues. This isn't an excuse for her behavior, but understanding the context might help in finding a solution.
If verbal communication is challenging, consider writing your thoughts in a letter to your sister. This can sometimes help in expressing yourself more clearly without the pressure of an immediate response.
Remember, it's okay to show emotions, and crying is a natural response, especially under stress. If the situation doesn't improve or if you feel unsafe in any way, it's important to seek help from a trusted adult or professional. You deserve to be in an environment where you feel respected and safe to express your emotions.
