I have recently been diagnosed with MAC (non-Hiv). Asthmatic with COPD, and a long history of lung problems. Middle age female.

Dr. started drug regium of Azithromycin, Ethambutol, and Rifampin. Within the first month of treatment, exhibited a rash that would not go away. Culture was sent to NJ in Denver, and now that it's back, Dr. has started again with Azithromycin, and Cipro.

I have not seen the report from NJ, but am somewhat concerned with the addition of Cipro. From other individuals that have this same disease, I have heard that Cipro is not a drug that works well on MAC.

Is my Dr. wasting time by using Cipro? Would it benefit me to seek other medical advice? My current Dr. is a Pulmonolgist.
