I have been under a lot of stress, lately I'm breaking out in hives and welts, my skin is very red and itches really bad all over my body. My doctor perscribed an antibiotic cream that didn't work, he instructed me to take benadryl that didn't help, I've taken claritin that didn't help. The only thing he has not perscribe is something for my nerves, stress or anxiety. I breakout everytime I'm stressed out, become upset, tired or have a seizure. The condition doesn't go away unless I go on bed rest for a week. Based on what I've described; do you think I should try taking a valium or something for anxiety to see if this will help?

I have to agree with you – there are several skin conditions, similar to hives or skin redness that are strongly connected to the amount of anxiety and stress you are exposed to. The fact that the skin condition calms down when you do take a rest is a strong argument in this direction, so it definitely would be good thing to at least try for a month or two some kind of anti-anxiety treatment.
But, you obviously can’t do this all on your own: you will need to take these kinds of medications under doctor’s supervision because they are not only addictive, but you also build tolerance to them and you surely see how this can become even bigger issue. Still, with all precautions in mind, it might be worth a shot.
