idk how much advice u want from a 15 year old kid but....

i love to run by myself on calming things in the mornings, like happy tunes, nothing too fast but soothing.

....now when it comes to meets and races..... i blast the fastest craziest music i can find, usually metallica, and just get into it. It gets my blood pumping and i loose all my nervousness. i get myself into a competitive mode, making myself want to get running as fast as i can. This helps me calm (while getting hyper) before a race. After my mode time i blast off the starting line like a firecracker, the songs i just listend to playing over and over in my head, keeping my pace fast and me motivated!

yeah highs cool runner,

i like enter sandman by M. i have baiscally a mix of what u just described on my spiffy new yellow mp3 (that looks like a round banana) and have spaced them out all over the music, so i get one of one and then some of the other....

ya, a nice mix of things would be nice. i love mp3s. i have an ipod mini (ive had it for a while, so i didnt just jump on the band wagon)

its nice, but i would like somethinng lighter for running, o ya, the new ipod shuffle! its so nice, weighs nothing, NOTHING. plus u can shuffle the songs, or play them in the order you want. it hangs around ur neck and adds no more weight then the sweat you get when u run.

highs cool runner:

being over twice ur age, i didnt jump on the bandwagon; i was dragged onto the bandwagon (kicking, screaming, and complaining loudly).....

i tend not to bother with too much electronic stuff....but when i started running more then a mile or two my walkman got old really quick (too many commercials).....so my younger brother bought us both one and we figured out how to rip, etc and the rest.....not that hard, just would rather be doing other stuff....

but now that i have a yellow, round, banana RIO, i wouldnt trade it for anything, lol.

cake ANYTHING is great, what with their killer basslines and all i've found that i can listen to coldplay's "a rush of blood to the head" cd just about all the way through, and it's a great running soundtrack. not exactly throwdown, intense training music, but actually surprisingly motivating...

I too have an iPod mini - love it, as I have the armband and it's totally hands-free. I just start my 'run mix' on shuffle and cruise.

Some great running songs-

Cake - Going the Distance
Soul Kid #1 - More Bounce (In California)
Transplants - Tall Cans in the Air
Transplants - Diamonds and Guns
Transplants - DJ DJ
50 Cent - Candy Shop
Alpinestars ft. Brian Molko - Carbon Kid
Ashlee Simpson - La La
Black Eyed Peas - Let's Get Retarded
Black Eyed Peas - Hey Mama
Crowned King - Turn it Up (We're Going Down)
Elvis Costello - Pump it Up
Kanye West - Jesus Walks
Lindsay Lohan - To Know Your Name
N.E.R.D. - She Wants to Move
Outkast - Bombs Over Baghdad
Paul Oakenfold - Starry Eyed Surprise
Supergrass - Pumping on Your Stereo
Xzibit - Hey Now (Mean Muggin')

Hope that helps! Enjoy!

EDIT: How could I forget Rammstein's Du Hast?! Super beat.

I know that probably most of you dont like rap..

but Breathe by Fabolous is REALLY good

it has a nice pumping flowing fast beat

and the lyrics actually pertain perfectly to running

"and im gettin btter year by year"

"cant breathe when i come through"

"gotta beat 20 man its not even funny"

"Look look there hearts racin they start chasin but im so fast when i blow past that they cant BREATHE"

its perfect for getting pumped up for meets - another good one for getting pumped up is Drop by Timbaland, Magoo, and Fat Man SCoop

For those big hills I like to listen to Metallica, Master of Puppets. A little anger and adrenaline never hurts to conquer those hills. Otherwise I like Jack Johnson's more upbeat tunes especially during sunset runs. Fits my beach lifestyle. If you want to get free MP3 music check out this free shareware called limewire. Easy to use and you can fill that MP3 player up for free!
