I have panic attacks and have since I was a child. I have this feeling also (I'm going to call them Deja vu attacks for the sake that I don't know what else to call it) They are very different. For me at least, panic attacks are similar in the way that I get flush and unable to talk while they happen but I feel extreme panic and no deja vu what so ever. Panic attacks make me feel unable to breathe properly and want to get away from everything and everyone, so i do. or i just collapse and cry and hyperventilate with a sense that I've lost all control and leave me feeling emotionally drained and anxious. this deja vu feeling is very different. when it happens often times I'm in my car at night or sitting watching tv or on my computer and then all of the sudden I'm seeing everything and experiencing everything for the second time. its not a familiar feeling. its a "I've lived this moment before" feeling. there is initially no panic, but there is an eerie frightening feeling at the realization that you have experienced the moment before. deja vu attacks leave me feeling fatigued and my brain feeling foggy or mushy. while they're happening i feel afraid but not panicked at all. I feel like a passenger in my own body. Blankly just there.

I, like many others on here have had MRI's done refereed for suspected epilepsy by my doctor and they show nothing. I have an appointment with my neurologist soon where hopefully we find some sort of answer for this.

That's a really interesting thought actually because I am also anemic. I eat ice like its a meal, ill get a bowl full and go sit in bed and eat it. it happens more often when I'm sleep deprived. I dont know whether you're male or female but I almost wonder if there is any link with periods. i mean i know my iron drops significantly that time of the month.

I have had an MRI because my doctor thought i may have epilepsy and it came back normal. neuroligist appointment soon.

YES! okay, I have had this many times, I cant really pin point when it started but there and two I remember very distinctly and will never forget. well at least the bits and pieces I remember. one was when I was a child I had a dream of a photograph of a tree with a pond on each side and a big bird by the tree, i forgot about the dream until i was walking and i stoped dead in my tracks when this weird sick feeling of dejavu took over and as i finished walking i looked up and out of no where i was at this place in the photograph. the second time it happened i didn't remember when id dreamed of it but when the deja vu started i know for a fact i had dreamed the whole e thing and was predicting in my head what would happen next but just felt like a passenger in my own body. when i snapped out of it i told my boyfriend at the time what happened and it was really scary.

I'm anemic and it seems to happen most often when my iron levels are at their lowest

I am the same way but it only seems to ever happen with bad things. for example I was at my ex's house and I had extreme deja vu of a dream I had and I relived part of the dream and when I snapped out of it all I could remember is that something really bad was going to happen to his roommate zack. i told my ex everthing and that zack was going to get hurt and he kind of just blew it off. latter that night zack got drunk and fell through a sliding glass door and severed an artery and nearly bled out \. hes alive thankfully. it happened one other time as well and it was of my best friend at her new house before they even talked about moving and it was of me in an out of body experience in her basement with her while she was committing suicide. I had an intense feeling of deja vu when I went to that house for the first time. (i never once told her that this happened) and she attempted suicide in that house, once again thankfully she is still alive... maybe its a medium type thing or just a freak coincidence.. although i guess i do not believe in coincidence. i have had many other minor things like this happen but tose two are the worst

Hi everyone!
First time I posted a message on this board was in 2005, I believe.
As so many of you had said, our "deja-vu attacks" come and go. The last time I had super intense ones and multiple on top of that was in August 2014. I even had them in my sleep which had never happened before. I woke up because of it and I was distressed as to how this was even possible. I used to think that sleep was a "safe zone".
During this same time period, I had multiple "deja-vus" during the day, one day I had 7 or 8, I was absolutely miserable. After researching this for many years, I am sure that it is a seizure. It is not a seizure that has physical symptoms that can take you down on the floor and pass out, but it puts you on "reset mode" for good 30 seconds during which you are incapable of having a cohesive conversation. During this same time I also experienced panic attacks for the first time in my life. I had 2 and this is where I had to draw a line and take action because I was headed down into a dark, dark place.
I was so lucky to have someone in my life who shared with me that she used to have panic attacks and told me how to deal with them (letting them take over and not try to fight them). This was a complete game changer, I haven't had a panic attack since. But i cannot attribute everything to this, what really has helped is transcendental meditation. I never took the course, couldn't afford it, read about it online, understood the importance of having a mantra and I haven't had a "deja vu" (the bad kind) since then! I meditate every day, morning and afternoon, I am able to "ground" myself by saying my mantra in my head and allow my thoughts to keep flooding it while acknowledging them and "re-grounding" myself with my mantra again. Once you have a mantra you are not to share it with anyone. This is your "sacred" saying, your truth, your desire, whatever it is. There are no rules to mantras, it can be anything you want it to be. I would always recommend wording it positive vs negative, meaning "I am "----" vs I am not "---". Read about it and help yourself.
I still get anxious at times but I think that this is just who I am, given circumstances in my early life (parent's divorce, etc.). But i no longer let anxiety take me out of control. I am in control because i have my mantra!
Stress is what kills us, it creeps up on us in any way it can. Stress is in the roots of so many diseases, take good care of yourselves people. Practice good mental health, see a therapist, mediate, eat well, exercise.
Wishing well,
Former Dejavuer

I’ve had Deja vu since I was six, I’ve never had any serious health issues, have never used any drugs unless required to by a doctor, I started getting migraines 2 years ago, all of the medicine I’ve tried doesn’t stop the migraines, and my Deja vu has started to increase, I’ve ben having attacks of Deja vu that can last from hours today’s, I’m planning on talking to my doctor about it soon, but I don't think they will be able to help, the ' attacks' of Deja vu happen 2-3 times a month at least, if anyone can find some way to stop the Deja vu I would be eternally grateful. I’m only sixteen and the Deja vu is only getting worse.

This exact same thing happen to me. I randomly daydream and hear people saying things that would be completely out of context. Also have some paranoia sometimes

Omg I'm going through the same. I searched on Google and it made it worse, all it says it that I may have epilepsy but I never get seizures.

I too have had these "negative, reoccurring Deja Vu's". Just had one five minutes ago which kicked my anxiety into high gear and reminded me to search online if this happens to others.

It happens to me quite a lot, I just turned 35 and have suffered with anxiety ever since I got out of a really abusive relationship. So I'm surmising that my PTSD from that relationship is what is causing the negative feelings during the Deja Vu's.

It's quite disconcerting to have them just suddenly happen when doing mundane tasks. I halfway expect a phone call to tell me something bad has happened, or the police to show up at the door or something similar sending my anxiety out of control.

Helps seeing others have the same "negative Deja Vu's" happen to them. I *should* know better than to allow myself to get worked up over them, especially since I've had them so often before, but my anxiety doesn't listen to me!
