No period on break from Dianette

Since I’m struggling with tonsil problems for years it I suffer from the same problem even more often than it should be normal. Of course I asked my doctor about it, first time I took antibiotics, I think it was Amoxicillin, I missed a period that month, and I was on the pill for just a few months at the time, so she concluded it was normal. Which antibiotic did you take and for how long? I later discovered that it is widely known that antibiotics reduce the reduce blood levels and the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. You still should see your gynecologist about this problem, you don’t want to have to worry every month.

thanks for your reply, i was on flucloxacillin at the same time as the Dianette. To be totally honest the Doctor doesn't seem at all concerned about this but one of the reasons i was put on Dianette was to have a period each month as it is suppose to help with my PCOS.
I totally forgot about the antibotics when having sex, i've not got all the syptoms of pregnancy but a fair few.....done another test today and still neg.
The doctor has told me to restart the Dianette but I haven't as I am concerned that if by any chance I am pregnant this could affect the baby.
Did you have your period then? how long did it take for it to return?

Just an update.......finally came on my period yesterday, so will just put it down to my PCOS

I’m glad this sorted itself out, better start with the pill; PCOS just added the complications to the whole situation. And remember for the future – it there isn’t necessarily a warning for the antibiotics, you still should watch.
