By "use the toilet" do you mean have a bowel movement and urinate?
If so, I would say that depends on how long it has been since your surgery. If it's quite recent, i would say it would not be unusual for you to have difficulty "using the toilet". If it's been more than a week, i would say talk to your doctor. Something ain't quite right.
