My mother passed roughly two years ago, since then I have taken 100mg morphine two or three times a day, every day to numb the pain. I was completely blind to what it was doing to my body. The first time my plug ran out I thought it was the flu, eventually I discovered I was experiencing withdrawls. I look back and feel like and id**t, I thought it was helping but in all reality it was taking control of my life. My heart goes out to anyone going through the this. Once I discovered imodium I took back my life. It pretty much eliminated all symptoms, beside feeling like a zombie. I thank the Lord everyday for giving me the strength to take control of my life again. To any going through withdrawls I pray for you, and to anyone dealing with someone who is abusing prescription meds or even to those that was prescribed them but wants there life back, be patient with them. It is extremely hard to get away from them, but it is so fulfilling once you've won.

Ryan, Couldn't mass doses of Immodium have very bad effects like getting bound up & having cramps from Hell? I hesitate to take it for plain diarrhea, because it did that to me once.

What is MS Contin? Morphine Sulphate continuous? Like the morphine version of OxyContin? Thank you for your post. I have been taking generic oxycodone for 3 - 4 years, daily for two. I take anywhere from 70 to 100 mg daily, occasionally 120 mg. When I run out, I use the suboxone strips, but I try to avoid using them for more than 3 - 5 days at a time (using 1/3 - 1/2 of an 8 mg. strip w/ 2 mg. naloxone). One thing that makes short term use of the subs easy is that I loathe the taste. The fact you can't just swallow it & have to hold it under your tongue until it dissolves makes it worse! Ugh! I want to get off this stuff, even w/arthritis & tendinitis. For one thing, the "high" isn't that great anymore. I have insurance, std & LTD. but am concerned the company I work for (I'm one of three contractors onsite) would can me, if I went to rehab and they found out, although my drugs are prescription ( I am prescribed some of what I take). Can you use your insurance & take disability, but tell your employer it's some kind of condition or illness w/out disclosing the substance abuse treatment?

Imodium slows down the bowl easing diarrhea, that's it. There are no opiate receptors in the stomach. Lots of wrong advice with these personal posts...

Boy I hope I remember this and do it. I'm in a bad place. It's so close to ruining my job, 'my family, my life. 9 months of up to 240 mg per day of Percocet. Now prescribed 100mg pills of morphine er. So desperate to drop the oxy. I was hoping I could cut down the oxy by taking morphine. I have lowered already through insanely hard work, down to about 20mg a day, but then I get to the evening and grab 40 mg of them so I can be comfortable and sleep. I know it's over for me if I don't fix this. I'm going to lose everything. I can take 5-10 mg and I'm ok for about 6-8 hours. So I must have weened some from taking morphine, but I can't cut it. It doesn't help that I have severe pain that brought this all on, but I would prefer to live in pain over this demon drug that's ruining my whole life...

Thank you for your honesty. when you say that you took imodium, what is that? And, are you saying that you didn't have any withdrwals? I too got worse with my using when my mom died 5 years ago this month. I was using before that but i do believe now i tried to stay numb because i couldn't bare the lost of my Mother. I am presently using 30mg o fmscotin 2x a day and 20 mg of perc (which brake in half and sometimes snort one half and take to other half). today i decided to see how i would do without the mscotin and its been 18 hours. would you suggest that I stop the mscotin 1st or the percs. and again, what is imodium. Thank you so much and like you I am totally depending on the Grace of God!!!!! God bless you and your Victory thank you for sharing your story.

You have the exact same issue (health ) a I do . I have gone for Facet Joint Block Injection to try and stop the pain in my spine . They did the left side last Thursday and this Tuesday they are going to do the right side . I have noticed I can stand for longer periods of time without getting that knife burning feeling in my back (the side they did) if I tell them it worked they are going to lazar ( burn ) the nerves so I will have no feeling in that area .......I 'm slowly cutting back on the oxy and going through hell at the same time , lack of sleep and depressed . The one fella was right you have to keep moving and take your mind off your suffering ...very good advice .If you just sit and do nothing it is 10 harder to quit .
I'm not sure about the Immodium trick for withdrawals ...will have to do some research on it .
Good Luck To All.

Exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you SO much!! I've already kicked the ER (well I'm at about 76 hours since last dose) but this OxyContin c**p seems to be much more difficult for some reason! I was used to taking 3x 20mg icy per day but I would cut in 1/2. Now if down to 2 throughout the 24 hour period. I wake up in shock, and take 1/2 (10mg).. tomorrow I'm going for 1 and 1/2 (30mg). Then do exactly what you described by doing smaller and farther apart. But your right , every 4 to 4.5 hours WD kick back in! I absolutely despise this sh*t! It is poison.
Thank you for your post, it will help me !!
