My father got prescription for pavix because of his cardiovascular disease. He is 62 years old and has already had problems with high blood pressure, but not any longer. I’m interested in mechanism of action of pavix, how does it treat coronary disease?

Plavix is antiplatelet drug. It prevents forming harmful blood clots. Blood clots can cause obstruction of blood vessels that can lead to destruction of tissue that is in direct conection with attacked blood vessel. One of these obstructions is known as infarct, when heart is insufficient with blood and oxygen. Plavix is used to prevent heart attack, stroke, it has direct influence on blood and not on blood vessels.
