Hello. My father is 65 years old and he has just returned form angioplasty procedure. It looks like his coronary arteries were so badly clogged that the surgery had to be done. Anyway, among other medications he received Plavix too and I would just like to know does everybody get Plavix following angioplasty?

Angioplasty, even though a simple procedure today is proven to be very effective when it comes to dealing with obstructed blood vessels. As for Plavix, it is a medication given because of the possibility of platelets forming blood clots and that is something your father really does not need in his health state. And it is used not only after angioplasty but also in other therapies that are heart related.
