My wife had a stroke. Her doctor prescribed her Aspirin with Plavix VS Aggrenox, for stroke prevention. What do you think about this drug? Is he better than aspirin?

I also had stroke. Since, I had stroke I use Aspirin with Plavix VS Aggrenox. So I am informed about this drug . This combination prevented stroke much better than aspirin itself. Aspirin with Plavix VS Aggrenox capsules prevents twice as many strokes as aspirin in patients who have had a prior stroke. Aspirin with Plavix VS Aggrenox combining low-dose aspirin with the extended-release dipyridamole found in Aggrenox works better than aspirin alone for preventing secondary strokes. Both drugs prevent platelets from forming clots. In combination, aspirin plus extended-release dipyridamole reduce the risk of recurrent stroke more effectively than each agent alone.

You should be careful combining aspirin with plavix.
In fact the MATCH study found that there were more bleeds in the combination arm and therefor it is not recommended.

Dr's thought wife might have had a mini stroke. all test inconclusive. She cannot have MRI due to having a ACID implant. At hospital they gave her Aggrenox and she had such a headache that family Dr. switched her to Plavix since she was already on Asprin (325mg) because of heart condition. In your opinion which is the better drug.
