Hi there,
In most situations, these types of menses are nothing to worry about. (many women with heavy periods get large dark clots and womb lining which range from red to brown to almost black) If they are heavier than usual it could be due to hormone changes (such as increased oestrogen either from the contraceptive pill or natural changes) which increases the thickness of the endometrium that needs to be removed during a period. However, since you have been undergoing treatment for abmormal cells, it's recommended that you tell your doctor if you get changes in menstruation.
If for instance you have had The loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) (electrified wire loop to remove tssue) the following recommendation is cited:
After LEEP you can expect:

* Mild cramping may occur for several hours after the procedure.
* A dark brown vaginal discharge during the first week is normal.
* Vaginal discharge or spotting may occur for about 3 weeks.
* Sanitary napkins should be used instead of tampons for about 3 weeks.
* Sexual intercourse should be avoided for about 3 weeks.
* Douching should not be done.

When to call your health professional

Call your health professional if you have any of the following symptoms:

* A fever
* Spotting or bleeding that lasts longer than 1 week
* Bleeding that is heavier than a normal menstrual period
* Increasing pelvic pain
* Bad-smelling, yellowish vaginal discharge, which may indicate an infection

it's probably fine, but best to get it checked out to put mind at rest.
