Hello! I am 45 year-old female and I was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia two months ago. I am about to undergo a radiation therapy but I heard that post radiation period is very uncomfortable, that will make me nauseous, vomit, experience diarrhea and all sorts of other problems. I wanted to hear from someone who underwent this procedure and their experiences. All reply is welcome! Thank you

As far as I know, radiation you are talking about is not used to treat cervical dysplasia. Radiation you are mentioning is used fro treating cancer and dysplasia represent only pre-cancerous cells that will not inevitably turn into cancer. Did you maybe think about LEEP? LEEP is a procedure in which a thin loop of wire emits low-voltage, high-frequency radio waves and removes the “infected” tissue. No nausea and vomiting have been associated with this procedure. I have had it done two years ago and the only problem I had was light bleeding for almost a month. There are other procedures used for treating cervical dysplasia like cryo cauterization, laser vaporization or ablation, and cone biopsy. I may be wrong but I think you should ask more questions about your procedure and your diagnosis as well. I hope everything turns out well.
