Peripartum cardio-myophaty is a rare condition that accounts for an important percentage of pregnancy–related deaths. Deaths from PCM can be attributed to profound left ventricular failure like arrhythmia. Women should be diagnosed by clinical evaluation and echocardiography. Since left ventricular dysfunction is established, a standard heart failure medical regimen should be instituted. Hospitalization should be considered for patients with class III or greater symptoms and for those patients which are not responding to outpatient management too. Delivery should be strongly considered, if the diagnosis is made in the antepartum period.
