My brother was diagnosed with pluracy. What is this?

Hello,
It is pleurisy, not pluracy. It is inflammation of the pleura. Pleura is moist, doble-layered membrane, which surrounds lungs and lines the rib cage. This condition can make breathing very painful. There are many causes for pluracy, such as pneumonia, even kidney disease and many others.

Hello there,

Well first of all this is inflammation of the pleura. You need to treat the cause of this condition because this inflammation is usually just a consequence of some other underlying process such as pneumonia, viral infection, influenza or tuberculosis.

Most common symptoms of this condition are chest pain when you trying to take deep breath, shortness of breath, dry cough, fever and chills but this depends on the cause for example this symptom is present if the cause is influenza and loss of appetite.

Treatment is usually focused on the main cause of this condition. For example if pleurisy is the consequence of the pneumonia, then it will be treated with antibiotics. I hope this was helpful.
