My son had polips removed from his colon when he was 8 years old.
He is 11 years old now. Just recently we discovered blood in his stools again. Is polips hereditary or individual? How should I change his diet.
How is polips related to cancer??
We have an appointment Friday with the doctor that removed polips before.

NOT WORRIED BUT CONCERNED MOMMIE....

Yes, it is possible for polyps to develop again if I person had already suffered from them. And, it is hereditary. Polyps can develop if a person eats a lot of fatty food or weights too much ( alcohol, smoking, lack of exercise also contribute to polyps but this is highly unlikely your sons situation). This is why you should introduce more fruit and vegetables into his diet and make sure his weight is normal (this is also important for both his physical and mental health).

Make sure he eats milk, cheese, broccoli, spinach and kidney beans. These food are rich in calcium and folate, which are thought to reduce the risk of developing polyps.

Most cancers are benign but if they are large, they may turn into cancers. Doctors usually send the polyps for examination after removing them.
